The Most Awesome Controller!

Posted on 06 September 2010 by Christian

NES Table Controller

Not only is this awesome creation a coffee table / storage chest, but it doubles as a giant NES controller too. A glass surface can be placed over the controls when not in use, so you don’t accidentally spill some coffee on it.

The Devil and M. Night Shyamalan

Posted on 06 September 2010 by TH3 No08

Devil is not a bad movie. Devil is not a bad movie. Devil is not a bad movie.

I kept telling myself this while I was watching the M. Night Shyamalan produced, John Dowdle directed, quasi horror movie. The premise is fairly unoriginal, four people trapped on an elevator, police and security watching over security cameras from a far away room, helpless to save the victims as they are one by one killed by an unseen force. No new ground broken there. The characters aren’t bad, I enjoyed Geoffry Arend of Super Troopers fame, unfortunately the part he plays is short lived. Jenny O’Hara is serviceable as the creepy old lady, as is the rest of the crew but the ultimate shortcoming in this movie is the inevitable twist. It’s a staple of the Shyamalan movie. The third act twist that comes out of nowhere to shock and amaze us at how wonderful a storyteller he is. Like most of M. Night’s recent movies the twist is ham-fisted at best, a square peg forced into the proverbial round hole. I won’t spoil the ending for anyone I’ll just say this, it’s nothing we haven’t seen before in every movie Shyamalan has ever made. So I keep telling myself, This wasn’t a bad movie, This wasn’t a bad movie, but the twist is…(pause for effect here)

It really was a bad movie.

The Panasonic AF100

The Panasonic Af100 looks to be the next generation in digital slr video cameras. According to the video below, it has all the great things that have made the indy film world fall in love with the digital slr’s, but without all the drawbacks. A couple of the drawbacks addressed by this camera include pro audio connections, the anti-aliasing issue has been addressed as well as the jello effect when shooting fast motion. It comes with all the bells and whistles we’ve been looking for but without the drawbacks and it’s being listed under $6,000 (without lenses). This is a major step forward and could be another blow against the mighty RED camera that was the hype of the industry just a few years ago. With a price this low, and the ability to shoot with a “film like” quality, I say lets do this…

The ad shows a guy who has replaced his newspaper with the iPad. Everything appears to be going swimmingly until he tries to swat a fly with the device — and ends up smashing it into pieces.
Newsday was told to remove its ad or risk being ejected from App store, according to the Network World.
Several versions have been already removed so catch it while it last below:

Excellent? Bogus? You decide

Posted on 06 September 2010 by TH3 No08

After our discussion of the possibility of a forthcoming Bill and Ted movie on last weeks podcast it seems the internet is all abuzz with talk of the dynamic duo getting back together for another run at being “totally excellent dudes”. From an interview Ted, I mean Neo, I mean Keanu Reeves gave at the Toronto International Film Festival…

“We’re trying,” said Reeves. “Alex and I are still friends and we’re talking, and we’re talking to Chris and Ed. They’re going to try and see if they can write something. To me, I’d love to play the role. I’d love to work with Alex and Chris and Ed again.”

So It looks like Keanu is doing his best to stimulate the economy by helping Alex Winters get some work. Good for him. We should all do our part. I’ll do my part by waiting for it on blu-ray. There’s no way you catch me alone in a theater with Alex Winters…

I See A Little Silhouette Of A Man

Posted on 06 September 2010 by Christian

Sacha Baron Cohen (Bruno, Borat, Talladega Nights) has struck a deal to play Queen’s front man Freddie Mercury in an film being scripted by Peter Morgan the British screen writer behind The Queen, Last King of Scotland, and Frost/Nixon. Now I know what you are thinking, “What!? The Borat guy is playing Freddie Mercury?” but hold up…before you grab your torches, Let us go back to another bio pic that cast a comedian.. Any one see that movie “Ray”? That got Jamie Fox an Oscar.. Now i am not saying that Sacha Baron Cohen is a front runner for an Oscar because of it, but in my opinion this could be that role he needs to really stretch his legs as an actor and gain a lot of respect doing it.. Now I got to say Queen has a little spot in my heart going back to my college days at a little bar called Scruffy Murphy’s and their Karaoke Wednesdays were I would tear up some Bohemian Rhapsody after about 10 keystone lights.. We would like to get your feedback on this subject, so leave us some comments and tell us how you feel.

From days of long ago, From uncharted regions of the universe

Posted on 06 September 2010 by Christian

If you’re like me, someone who spent their formative years cutting their teeth on the cartoon heroes of the 1980′s, your gonna totally freak over the concept/pitch art for the on again off again now apparently back on again Beast King Go Lion… Oh wait, I mean

VOLTRON…DEFENDER OF THE UNIVERSE.

I was always a huge fan of Voltron and truly believed that in a one on one fight they could take down any transformer or decepticon. Maybe in the future we’ll get the opportunity to see a crossover mass marketing campaign for the ages between the two groups of mechanized heroes. Hold that thought… Do we really want to see Michael Bay raping even more of our childhood? I think I’ll pass on that one and just take this for what it is, some kick ass concept art for what could be a potentially cool movie.
