Watch the first five minutes of TNT’s new series Falling Skies

Posted on 20 April 2011 by TH3 No08

We get these for movies from time to time but now it’s becoming more and more prevalent in television to put out the five minute teaser to try and drawn in audiences for big series premieres. This isn’t too awful. The effects look ok for a television sci-fi series but I’ll reserve judgement until we get out of the first episode where most of the money is spent to get the pilot picked up….

TNT has released the first five minutes of its Steven Spielberg-produced alien invasion series, ‘Falling Skies’. The series is set six months after the alien invasion as the survivors try to stay alive and deal with their new reality.

It stars Wyle as Tom Mason, a Boston history professor whose family has been torn apart; Moon Bloodgood stars as Anne Glass, a pediatrician who works with the survivors and Will Patton plays a fierce leader of the resistance. The summer show will premiere on June 19, 2011.

Super 8 Interactive Trailer Included on Portal 2 for PC

Posted on 20 April 2011 by TH3 No08

Apparently JJ Abrams is the most innovative marketing genius of his generation because he has now come up with a whole new way to market his movies. For his upcoming Super 8 film he has teamed with the creators of Portal 2 to create an interactive game level where you can actually walk around and explore the train that wrecks in the trailer for their movie. Very interesting stuff with lots of little tidbits of information just waiting to be explored… If you drop $60 bucks for Portal 2. Or you can watch it here…

International “Bridesmaids” trailer is here…

Posted on 19 April 2011 by TH3 No08

This movie has pretty much flown under my radar until seeing this trailer. I dig Kristin Wiig on SNL doing her quirky characters but it doesn’t translate very well to the big screen. (see Macgruber) This looks funny though. It’s being called the female version of “The Hangover” which is a tough movie to be compared to but hopefully it lives up to the hype.

The Noob News Monday Morning Roundup # 6

Posted on 18 April 2011 by TH3 No08

It’s Monday morning and that means it’s time to check the numbers and see who had the golden goose this weekend. Taking the #1 spot this weekend with the biggest opening weekend of the year is Rio who edged out Hop and Rango to earn the year to date top spot by over $3 million dollars. There was little competition for Rio as Scream 4 debuted with a weak $19 million dollar opening. It was a disappointing open for Scream 4 whose previous sequels had been box office gold. Scream 3 opened to $34 million dollars in 2000 which adjust to a nearly $50 million dollar opening in today’s terms. Coming in 3rd with a respectable $11 million dollars is the animated Easter flick Hop who pulled in $37 million dollars last weekend. Rounding out the top five were last weeks big surprises Hanna and Soul Survivor. They both continue to perform strong despite not having big stars or huge media campaigns.

Last weeks big disappointments continue to be this weeks disappointments as Your Highness and Arthur took huge drops both losing about 50 percent of last weeks sales. Look for both of these movies to disappear in the next week. The biggest holdovers from last week were Insidious and Source Code who continue to thrive on good reviews and strong word of mouth. Insidious looks to be a big winner within it’s genre as future estimates have it looking like it may now win out over Scream 4 for long term dollars in the coming horror lite months.

Possible Man of Steel Details; Lindsay Lohan Rumors, & LexCorp Hiring?

Posted on 18 April 2011 by Christian

Click here to read some more pretty cool possible details on Zack Snyder’s upcoming movie ‘Man of Steel’ involving Lex Corp, and those pesky Lindsay Lohan rumors…

This past month there has certainly been no shortage of rumors surrounding Zack Snyder’s upcoming movie ‘Man of Steel’. Rumors have ranged from filming in Canada, Lindsay Lohan being up for a role, Edgar Ramirez, and most recently, the relatively unknown actor Adam Harris auditioning for the role of Lex Luthor.

Now I have gotten my hands on a few more pieces of information for you guys from my source regarding the production about Lex Corp in Chicago, those Lindsay Lohan rumors, and more on Adam Harris. I’ve been in contact with this source for a little while now and they’ve yet to say/do anything that would make me think they are unreliable but regardless, take the rumors however you wish.

- Lindsay Lohan never audtioned for any role with Superman.
- Adam Harris audtioned and has two callbacks with readings with Henry Cavill and Amy Adams.
- Adam has started a physical training program for a more demanding physical Lex Luthor.
- Scripts are being held very tightly. rumored: there are two different versions floating around, there will be a lot of fight scenes toward the end.
- There will be “employee hiring” job fairs for LexCorp in Chicago in the summer.
- A major factory plant in chicago will be playing host to LexCorp industries.

So there you have it folks, if any of you guys are Chicago residents, and if these rumors are to be believed, then you might have the chance to attend a LexCorp job fair.

The Poster Wall #5

Posted on 15 April 2011 by TH3 No08

This weeks edition of the poster wall contains some very cool stuff including a ton of horror movie posters and a large collection of character posters for The Hangover 2. Lets do it…

First up is the before mentioned Hangover collection as well as a cool international poster for the movie. I really dig the grittiness of the character pieces. Not super glossy so you really get a sense of what this movies gonna bring to the table.

Up next are a few poster for some big time kids movies hitting in the near future. The Rio poster is super colorful and full of characters that look like they are having a great time, just what you’d expect to see in a kids movie. The Cars 2 posters represent the two sides of what is going on in this

The Green Hornet: Aftermath

Posted on 14 April 2011 by TH3 No08

The Green Hornet: Aftermath

Sponsored by: www.comicbreak.com

Written By: Jai Nitz

Art By:Nigel Raynor

Rocketing out of the events of the monster hit movie, follow the continuing adventures of Green Hornet and Kato as a power struggle for control over drug trafficking in Los Angeles turns violent. Green Hornet and Kato are just starting out, but they’ve attracted attention from the cops, the drug pushers, and even Homeland Security! Britt and Kato keep their alter egos hidden, but a new set of masked men on the scene complicates matters.

I’m not a huge fan of movie/comic crossovers. I prefer them to stay within their own that’s why I didn’t think much of The Green Hornet: Aftermath when I picked it up. It looked like a piece of promotional material for the movie that came out a few months back and I don’t need to be sold on a movie that I was never really interested in seeing in the first place but I read it anyway and suprise of all suprises, it’s actually not a bad comic.

The book picks up where the movie left off, which is a bit of a mystery to me since i didn’t see the movie but that didn’t really hurt too much. It starts with the typical scenario of Kato doing all the heavy lifting and The Green Hornet showing up at the last moment to take all the credit only this time the credit is being given to someone else by a pair on nosy Home Land Security officers. They think TGH is one of Reid’s reporters, Cullen Hurtt and this doesn’t sit well with either of the guys. Kato and TGH want a bit of the credit they feel they should be getting but don’t want to out themselves to accept it.

I like the book, the character chemistry is interesting, the art is classic comic inspired and the cover is dynamic, straight off a movie poster. If you enjoyed The Green Hornet than this is certainly worth picking up and if you haven’t seen the movie but would like an introduction to the character this is definitely a good point to jump on and check it out.

Insidious outshines it’s minimal budget for big budget scares…

Posted on 14 April 2011 by TH3 No08

There’s a common qualifier that goes along with seeing most low budget movies, especially low budget horror movies and that’s the old adage that “it was really good for a low budget movie”. It’s a way of saying a movie was OK, but it could have been better if they had spent more money on an actual sound person or had they actually paid someone to edit it instead of letting the only guy they know that has the software to do it for a copy of the DVD. It’s not an adage I particularly buy into as I try to judge each movie on it’s own merit but “Insidious” is definitely a movie that some people are either praising or damning based solely on the budget. I say without a doubt, this is one of the creepiest movies I’ve seen in a long time compared to any movie of any budget.

Insidious is a ghost story, pure and simple. It’s the story of an average family who begins to experience supernatural occurrences shortly after their son is injured and left in an unresponsive, coma like state. It starts with a few bumps in the attic, a creepy door opening on it’s own, and some incredible tension and runs with it. Before long the family is experiencing full blown apparitions who are not even trying to hide the fact that they are there. They want you to see them and they want you to be scared. After speaking with a ghost expert of sorts it becomes apparent what the ghost’s really want and that is to inhabit the body of the child in the coma. I could tell you more but than might spoil what I felt was an awesome roller coaster ride of scares and surprises.

One of the complaints that I have heard from people regarding this movie is actually one of the things that I feel they did better than 90 percent of horror movies out there and that is the use of the jump scare. You know, that part of the movie when it gets really quiet and the tension is high and your on the edge of your seat when suddenly some spooky music blares out right as a cat jumps out of a trash can. In “Insidious” there are plenty of scenes that do that very thing only there are no cats jumping out in this move. Every scare is genuine, never letting you off the hook once they have you on it.

The cast is solid, Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne are both believable as parents put in a terrible situation, trying with all their might just to keep it together for the sake of their children. My two favorite characters were Specs and Tucker played by Leigh Whannel and Angus Sampson as part of a team of ghost experts who investigate the house. They were the “comic relief” portion of the movie, raising the spirits just enough that when the next scare hit it was all the more impactful.

Is is a perfect movie? Of course not. The CGI ghosts were shoddy at times, the kid actors were a bit stiff and I don’t know if it was just my theater but the image was terribly dark which at times made it hard to see everything that was going. If your looking for a movie to keep you up at night and make you think than this is the movie for you. Check out “Insidious” this weekend and have a good scare, you just might like it…
