Lucas to replace puppet Yoda with CGI in Episode I blu-ray reissue?

Posted on 23 August 2011 by TH3 No08

There’s something to be said with leaving good enough alone but George Lucas has never really followed that line of thinking. Every time he releases a new version of Star Wars he does his best to replace a part of our child hood with a lifeless cgi character and the upcoming blu-ray releases is no difference. According to multiple reports around the internet today Lucas is allegedly going to replace the puppet Yoda from Episode 1 with a cgi version based on the models used in episode 2 and 3. I imagine Lucas wanted to use cgi all alone but the technology probably wasn’t up to par in the late 90′s to make it happen.

While I could really care less about Episode I it does bother me to to see this happen on a regular basis despite the backlash against it. He obviously doesn’t care what the fans of his work think about what he’s done to his movies over the past few years and will never listen until we stop buying the reissues which will never happen so get used to CGI characters replacing puppets.

The trailer for Roman Polanski’s Carnage…

Posted on 20 August 2011 by TH3 No08

Roman Polansky touches on some very interesting ground in his latest film about two groups of parents trying to figure out why their kids can’t get along. As a parent this looks very intersting.

Joker art from Batman Arkham City

Posted on 19 August 2011 by TH3 No08

Earlier today Batman Arkham City and GameStop released this very cool photo on their facebook of some key art of the Joker. Very cool stuff and I’m digging the titan green dripping from his teeth. I can’t wait to get my hands on this game.

Stallone ends speculation of future Rambo sequels…

Posted on 19 August 2011 by TH3 No08

Sylvester Stallone has talked about doing a fifth Rambo over the last few years and at times has been on again off again about doing it but it looks like at this point he is going to close the book on any future sequels. I like this move. There’s no reason to keep telling the same story over and over again just to make money. Here’s an excerpt from Stallones recent interview from empire online.

First look at Superman on set

Posted on 19 August 2011 by TH3 No08

Here’s our first look at Henry Cavill on set in his SuperMan Costume. This is the first in what is sure to be a ton of pictures from the movie that will probably hit the internet. With the advent of cell phone cameras its impossible to keep anything a secret these days I’m sure it will probably keep getting worse (or better depending on what side of spoilers you reside on). So here it is, a grainy picture of SuperMan from far away. Enjoy.

First image and trailer for The Woman in Black starring Daniel Radcliffe…

Posted on 17 August 2011 by TH3 No08

After seeing him play a teenager for so long it’s weird seeing Daniel Radcliffe playing an adult in this period horror film which is actually a remake of a made for tv movie from the late 80′s. Creepy stuff here with the kids and the strange music.

Mr. Freeze joins the cast of villians featured in Arkham City…

Posted on 15 August 2011 by TH3 No08

Batman: Arkham Asylum may be my favorite super hero video game of all time but Arkham city may make a run to take it’s place on the top of my list with the list of villains being announced for the game. Mr. Freeze was announced as a villain today and now we get to take a look at what he will look like with his character trailer. Mr. Freeze joins Hugo Strange, The Joker, Harley Quinn, Two Face, and Cat Woman as the already announced villains in what could be the best game of 2011.

A Good Old Fashioned Orgy gets a red band trailer…

Posted on 15 August 2011 by TH3 No08

I love a good sex comedy. In the days of my youth I would search out any chance I had to see a boob and often the best place to see those were in comedies such as Porky’s, Bachelor Party, and the classic Screwballs. These types of films never get old so when I see a new one one the horizon I’m super excited to check it out. The title for this one says it all. It has a great cast full of hilarious people and the story looks pretty good as well.

BREAKING BAD Gets 16 New Episodes

Posted on 15 August 2011 by TH3 No08

There has been a lot of turbulence going on over at AMC with issues with The Walking Dead and Mad Men so it’s nice to see a good show like Breaking Bad getting a chance to finish telling it’s story. There was a lot of talk that Breaking Bad was going to leave AMC and finish up on another channel as the agreement with Sony was about to expire but they were able to work it out at the last moment.

Here’s the press release.

Mike Myers To Return To Austin Powers…

Posted on 15 August 2011 by TH3 No08

Mike Myers is returning to the well again for another sequel in the Austin Powers series. This will be his 4th in the series that has not produced a film since 2002. It’s not really a surprise that Myers is producing another sequel as he has not had much success outside of his role in the Shrek series. His last lead role was in the horrendous Love Guru and was both a critical and box office failure. I’d like to see Austin Powers as an older gentlemen spy taking on Scott who has now surpassed Dr. Evil as the head of the evil organization… wait, no I wouldn’t. This seems like a terrible idea by a studio trying to squeeze one last dime out of a tired series.

Disney shuts down production on The Lone Ranger…

Posted on 15 August 2011 by TH3 No08

According to Deadline.com it looks like Disney has pulled the plug on Gore Verbinski’s Lone Ranger starring Johnny Depp. Apparently issues arose when the budget ballooned to over 250 million dollars. There has been much speculation as to why the budget on a western would be so high but the rumor is that the story was full of cgi as Tonto and The Lone Ranger took on a band of wild west werewolves. Quite frankly this is the most ridiculous thing that I may have ever read. Werewolves in the wild west? I don’t remember werewolves in the old tv show so it seems like Disney was thinking out of the box and priced themselves right out of making a movie. This is a big disappointment as I was looking forward to Verbinski and Depp hooking up again for some epic story telling but that may not be happening any time soon unless they get that budget under control.

App Junkie Goes Old School

Posted on 11 August 2011 by @brihannajoi

Junkies, the app world peaks my interest so naturally because I am a gamer at heart. Maybe this dates me, but Nintendo and Sega Genesis were popular babysitters at my house. Sega being my favorite console because it had such great games. They were challenging and looked better than any other games I had played. I especially loved the arcade turned console games where there wasn’t as much skill involved as it was button mashing fun. Sega has definitely translated some of this genre to the app store and one that kept me reminiscing was Virtua Fighter 2.

Virtua Figher 2 for iPhone is a throw back to the original. You won’t find too many changes here as it seems Sega’s approach is to be completely classic. While I like this about the app, some may not. No elevated graphics or additional levels, just a true game to app conversion. 2D graphics, 8 classic fighter characters and 8 themed stages are what you get. It transports me to another time where I could do battle with my brothers in my living room, and win!

The game is quick to load with Play, Options and Help buttons available on the home screen. The Help will give you instructions on how to play and control settings. Unfortunately the controls can not be changed. When beginning the fight you can play alone with a new game or continue your previous one as your progress is saved. The one new innovative feature to this app is the ability to play a multiplayer game through Bluetooth, which allows you to play against another iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch opponent.

The game is played in the classic arcade mode. The controls are a familiar directional pad and A, B and C buttons to kick, punch and block. Before your game has begun you can also configure options such as setting your enemy level at Easy, Normal or Hard. You can even change the time limits and size of the life gauge. Once the fight is set as you like you will choose your fighter. Then punch and kick your way to victory to challenge the perfect fighter, Dural. Each fighter has over 25 unique moves and if you unlock the final boss Dural, you can play him in future challenges.

Virtua Fighter 2 is definitely a fun to play button masher for the iPhone. At least with this version, it won’t leave your thumbs sore! At a bargain price of $1.99 it is sure to bring back memories that are priceless. Now all you have to ask yourself is – “Do you have what it takes to become champion?”

Watch the pilot for Black Dynamite here…

Posted on 10 August 2011 by TH3 No08

Cartoon Network has posted the pilot for its upcoming new show Black Dynamite so you can check it out and get a head start telling everyone how awesome it is. Based on the blacksploitation style film of the same name starring Michael Jai White, this show will pay homage to all the awesomeness of the grindhouse/blacksploitation films of the seventies that inspired a generation of film makers, myself included.

Like Crazy trailer

Posted on 10 August 2011 by TH3 No08

I’m not usually a big fan of romantic movies but this looks pretty good. Anton Yelchin’s Like Crazy looks like it could either be a heart breaking love story or schlocky drama either way the camera work looks amazing and the sound track is very well done.

A love story is both a physical and emotional tale, one that can be deeply personal and heartbreaking for an audience to experience. Director Drake Doremus’ film Like Crazy beautifully illustrates how your first real love is as thrilling and blissful as it is devastating. When a British college student (Felicity Jones) falls for her American classmate (Anton Yelchin) they embark on a passionate and life-changing journey only to be separated when she violates the terms of her visa.Like Crazy explores how a couple faces the real challenges of being together and of being apart. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best Picture at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and of the Special Jury Prize for Best Actress for Felicity Jones, Like Crazy depicts both the hopefulness and the heartbreak of love.

Like Crazy arrives in theaters on October 28, 2012.

Freddy comes to Mortal Kombat…

Posted on 10 August 2011 by TH3 No08

It looks like Mortal Kombat is expanding it’s character list to now include one of the biggest icons in horror movie history. Freddy Krueger of A Nightmare on Elm Street fame is now joining the game as a playable character. You can purchase his character as downloadable content and take on the world of Mortal Kombat with the man of your childhood nightmares. The only thing that would make this cooler would be the ability to fight as Jason Vorheese or Michael Myers. One can only hope…

The Poster Wall : Attack the Block

Posted on 03 August 2011 by TH3 No08

If you’re looking for a movie to balance out the usual summer blockbuster malaise than this is the movie for you. This small British film has everyone talking about Joe Cornish as the next big indy director. Here’s a fan made poster from James Stayte that really captures the fun and energy of Attack the Block.
