Trailer for the E Book Meg:Origins

Posted on 26 October 2011 by TH3 No08

The on again, off again shark book that could have been a shark movie Meg is getting a prequel that looks to be only in E Book form. I really dug this book when I first read it back in the 90′s but I’ve never been really shocked that it’s not been able to be made into a movie. The ending is pretty far fetched and to do the story right would probably cost about 200 million dollars. Check out the trailer below and head over to his website to pick it up for only .99 cents.
From the Press Release:

As a teenager, NY Times best-selling author Steve Alten read JAWS – little did he know then how it would change his life forever. While devouring everything he could find on great white sharks and the true accounts of their attacks on man, he discovered their prehistoric cousin – the Megalodon – a 70-foot, 500-ton version of the great white shark. Even though Megs were easily the most formidable creatures ever to have existed, Alten was surprised to find very little written about these real-life monsters.

That would change in the summer of 1995, when Steve Alten happened to pick up a copy of Time magazine and on the front cover was the Mariana Trench. The article revealed the mysteries of the abyss and hydrothermal vents and the wondrous life forms that existed in this unexplored realm. It was at this moment that an idea was born and Steve found himself asking, ‘Now what was the name of that huge prehistoric shark I read about as a teen?’

MEG: Origins is like the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle. The prequel to MEG, Alten’s first best-selling novel, it will give readers answers to what really happened to Jonas Taylor, the sole survivor of a mission seven years earlier who is haunted by what he knows he saw but can’t prove exists.

The story takes place on the last of a series of top-secret Naval dives into the Mariana Trench, a 7-mile deep, 1,500-mile long gorge located at the bottom of the Western Pacific – the very location the HMS Challenger located hundreds of Megalodon teeth back in the 1870s. Jonas Taylor is the Navy’s golden boy – a deep sea submersible pilot exuding no fear. But after three consecutive dives, Jonas is burned out, his mind in a fog. Little does he know that what awaits him in the abyss is the most frightening creature ever to have existed.

For anyone who has not yet read any of the MEG books, MEG: Origins will surely whet their appetite for things to come. Pleasant dreams … for now.

Steve Alten is a prolific writer whose compelling story-telling and rich detail makes for pulse-pounding adventure novels that take readers on underwater journeys they will never forget! The original MEG was optioned to publishers in twenty-five countries; its sequels have sold three million copies worldwide, and it has been optioned as a major motion picture to be released in the summer of 2013. A major announcement regarding a director for this $150 million feature is forthcoming.

As a special bonus to readers, renowned “MEG artist” Erik Hollander was commissioned to create nine original color images to introduce each chapter. Combining a white-knuckle story with dazzling images has set the bar for an eBook, with readers raving about the high-tech entertainment experience. Finally, as a way of honoring his loyal readers, Steve Alten is practically giving MEG: Origins away, pricing the eBook for only 99 cents!

Guillermo Del Toro’s “The Night Eternal” hits bookstores soon…

Posted on 13 October 2011 by TH3 No08

The first two books in The Strain Trilogy were a bit hit or miss for me. I enjoyed the concept behind the two but at times it seemed a bit formulaic. That being said I look forward to seeing how the third book in the series “The Night Eternal” wraps up the story. Pick it up when it hits stores on 10-25-2011 and check out the synopsis below.

Synopsis:
From the authors of the instant New York Times bestsellers The Strain and The Fall comes the final volume in one of the most electrifying thriller series in years.

It’s been two years since the vampiric virus was unleashed in The Strain, and the entire world now lies on the brink of annihilation. There is only night as nuclear winter blankets the land, the sun filtering through the poisoned atmosphere for two hours each day–the perfect environment for the propagation of vampires.

There has been a mass extermination of humans, the best and the brightest, the wealthy and the influential, orchestrated by the Master–an ancient vampire possessed of unparalleled powers–who selects survivors based on compliance. Those humans who remain are entirely subjugated, interred in camps, and separated by status: those who breed more humans and those who are bled for the sustenance of the Master’s vast army.

The future of humankind lies in the hands of a ragtag band of freedom fighters: Dr. Eph Goodweather, former head of the Centers for Disease Control’s biological threats team; Dr. Nora Martinez, a fellow doctor with a talent for dispatching the undead; Vasiliy Fet, the colorful Russian exterminator; and Mr. Quinlan, the half-breed offspring of the Master who is bent on revenge. It’s their job to rescue Eph’s son, Zack, and overturn this devastating new world order. But good and evil are malleable terms now, and the Master is most skilled at preying on the weaknesses of humans.

Now, at this critical hour, there is evidence of a traitor in their midst… And only one man holds the answer to the Master’s demise, but is he one who can be trusted with the fate of the world? And who among them will pay the ultimate sacrifice so that others may be saved?

South Park’ Creators Win Best Musical Tony Award For ‘Book of Mormon’ :

Posted on 22 June 2011 by Christian

The Book of Mormon’ took home nine Tonys Sunday and the night’s biggest crown thanks to a story and song that both poked fun and honored Broadway’s history.

‘South Park’ creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone beat out ‘Catch Me If You Can’, ‘The Scottsboro Boys’ and ‘Sister Act’ to win the title for the musical about two Mormon missionaries who find more than they bargain for in Uganda.

The show’s win wasn’t a huge surprise with more than $10 million in sales and 14 Tony nominations.

Chris Rock even joked that opening the envelope to make the announcement was like “buying dinner for a hooker”, but it wasn’t always that way, especially when the musical was being conceived.

“That was the big question: are the grey hairs gonna come and are the South Park people going to come to something they can’t afford?” says Stone. “But I’ve seen some really old people in there laughing their asses off!”

True to the style of ‘South Park’, the script is rife with plenty of four-letter words and controversial lyrics but star Nikki M. James points out: “Any dialogue is better than no dialogue. We’re getting people talking!”

Legendary Actress Elizabeth Taylor Dies at Age 79

Posted on 23 March 2011 by Christian

Elizabeth Taylor has passed away at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in California, ABC News has confirmed.

The actress died from congestive heart failure. She was 79. In a statement, her son Michael Wilding said, “We will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world.”

Along with Michael, Taylor’s other children Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd and Maria Burton were by her side at the hospital, her publicist Sally Morrison said.

The ‘Cleopatra’ star was hospitalized last month for heart failure, and also underwent heart surgery in 2009.

In a recent Harper’s Bazaar interview with super-fan Kim Kardashian, Taylor opened up about her many husbands, jewels and philanthropic work.

“I never planned to acquire a lot of jewels or a lot of husbands,” Taylor told the 30-year-old Kardashian sister. “For me, life happened, just as it does for anyone else. I have been supremely lucky in my life in that I have known great love, and of course I am the temporary custodian of some incredible and beautiful things. But I have never felt more alive than when I watched my children delight in something, never more alive than when I have watched a great artist perform, and never richer than when I have scored a big check to fight AIDS.”

This is breaking news, check back for updates.

‘The Dark Knight’ Is On Facebook.

Posted on 08 March 2011 by Christian

Warner Bros. Has recently announced a joint partnership with Facebook in which they will streaming movies on the site, starting with ‘The Dark Knight’…

Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’ is coming to Facebook via a new on-demand service being set up through a partnership with the WB and Facebook.

Facebook users will pay for the video with 30 Facebook credits which is equal to roughly $3 and you’ll still have the ability to pause the movie, go full-screen, and continue with all your regular Facebook uses such as “Liking” your friends annoying status updates.

The downside is the video will only be available for purchase for a limited time (48 hours) but during that time you’ll be able to watch it as many times as you want. I’m not sure if the 48 hours thing is just a trial run or if that will be the going rate once the service is fully set up.

For those of you wishing to watch ‘The Dark Knight’ on Facebook, the link is HERE

Personally, I think it’s another make money quick scheme from Facebook, and it’s pointless for a couple reasons. 1, ‘The Dark Knight’ is an insanely popular movie and it’s safe to say that the majority of fans already own the DVD, and 2, with the popularity of services like Netflix, I just cant see a lot of people using it.

VIDEO GAMES:Dead Island Game Already Optioned for a Film Adaptation

Posted on 19 February 2011 by Christian

The net is abuzz over the trailer for the upcoming game Dead Island, one of the most unique and incredible game trailers released. It seems as though a film based on the game has already been optioned.

The other day, The N00b posted a trailer for the upcoming zombie game Dead Island(which can be seen below). Ever since it hit the web, people have been going nuts over the emotional and very well made trailer. It’s been discovered that producer Sean Daniel (The Mummy) and Union Entertainment have been sitting on the film rights for some time now reports The Wrap.

Daniel, along with Union Entertainment President Richard Liebowitz and producer Dmitri Johnson, have been tracking the game’s development for several years, and acquired rights to it in 2009. Daniel (“The Wolfman,” “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon”) and Union are scrambling to find the right script.

The problem here is that the trailer does not depict any game play; the images were put together specifically for that trailer. So one has to wonder if the film will be based on the actual game…or the trailer that has created so much buzz. If I had to take a guess, I’d say they go with he emotion and chaos of the trailer.

You can view a brief synopsis of the upcoming Dead Island game, which is set to release late 2011, by clicking HERE and check out the incredible trailer below. Again…the trailer is a bit graphic and should be for eyes of the older kids!
