The Godfather to return to theaters for 40th anniversary

Posted on 01 March 2012 by TH3 No08

Cinemark Presents Exclusive Release of Academy Award-Winning® “The Godfather”

Cinemark and Paramount Pictures Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of

“The Godfather” with Exclusive Cinemark XD Events at Theatres Across the US

Plano, TX, February 23, 2012 Cinemark Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CNK), a leading motion picture exhibitor, is proud to partner with Paramount Pictures to offer movie-goers the opportunity to see Francis Ford Coppola’s restored version of his Academy Award®-winning “The Godfather,” on 55 Cinemark XD auditoriums across the country, on Thursday, March 1, 2012. The film was meticulously restored using 5.1 digital surround sound and re-mastered using state-of-the-art technology, then transferred to files making it available to be seen on Cinemark XD screens.

“There is no greater iconic film than “The Godfather,” states James Meredith, VP of Marketing and Communication at Cinemark. “It has set the standard for story-telling, launched a generation of great actors, and provided movie-goers an unparalleled experience. Cinemark is excited to give fans of this movie the opportunity to now see it like never before in our extremely popular XD auditoriums, which offer a complete entertainment environment featuring enormous wall-to-wall and ceiling-to-floor screens, plush seating, and custom JBL sound systems with higher end components and 7.1 capable digital surround sound.”

“The Godfather,” Francis Ford Coppola’s epic masterpiece features Marlon Brando in his Oscar©-winning role as the patriarch of the Corleone family. Director Coppola paints a chilling portrait of the Sicilian clan’s rise and near fall from power in America, masterfully balancing the story between the Corleone’s family life and the ugly crime business in which they are engaged. Based on Mario Puzo’s best-selling novel and featuring career-making performances by Al Pacino, James Cann and Robert Duvall, this searing and brilliant film garnered eleven Academy Award® nominations, and won three including Best Picture in 1972. It is considered by many to be one of the greatest American films ever made. The film has been rated R by the MPAA.

The Coppola Restoration of “The Godfather” 40th Anniversary Edition as a project began in 2006 between Paramount Pictures and the director. Archivist Robert Harris joined the project, followed by the original cinematographer of the film Gordon Willis, to complete the team who worked arduously on the film for over a year going through the original prints, re-release prints, and negatives, shot by shot, foot by foot, frame by frame and even sprocket hole by sprocket hole.

Cinemark plans to also show “The Godfather Part II” on XD screens on April 19. A full list of participating Cinemark XD locations, advance ticket purchases and show time information can be found at www.cinemark.com.

Austin Location:

Cinemark Tinseltown 20 XD 15436 FM 1825 Pflugerville, TX 78660 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Piranha 3DD Trailer

Posted on 29 February 2012 by TH3 No08

Didn’t watch the first one, probably won’t watch this one. Other than that this looks totally fine, right? I mean, Paul Sheer’s in it so it’s got that going for it.

Having awoken from their spring break extravaganza at Lake Victoria, the swarm heads upstream where they look to make a meal out of Big Wet, a local water park where when it comes to fun, nobody does it wetter! Thought they came to get wet, get loaded and get some, the staff and patrons get more than they bargained for when they must face the fiercest, most bloodthirsty piranhas yet. Lead by the strong-willed, studious Maddy and her friends, Barry and Kyle, the trio must dive in and take on these man-eating creatures using every ounce of their being…but can they be stopped?

The incredible “The Avengers” superbowl trailer is here!

Posted on 06 February 2012 by TH3 No08

This is one of the best spots from Sunday’s superbowl commercials and really got me pumped up for The Avengers. Whedon really pulled out all the stops and I have to say the reveal of the Hulk was awesome. There’s even a nice scene of Loki and Tony Stark sharing some banter to fill in a little story info. Good stuff to check out including some nice tag lines.

Russell Crowe Denies ROBOCOP Rumor

Posted on 03 February 2012 by Christian

Russell Crowe took to Twitter to answer a fan who asked him whether or not there was any truth to the rumor that he might be playing Robocop in the upcoming remake.

A couple of days ago we were presented with a rumor from Variety that Russel Crowe was being considered for the role of Alex Murphy in the up coming Robocop remake. While the rumor did not seem very likely there had to be some validity to it given the source. Crowe was asked on twitter by user @DRockDot if he was being courted for the role. He responded with just a plain “No”.

Crowe also used twitter to address the Noah rumor as well telling MovieWebs twitter feed And I’m eyeing him(Darren Aronofsky) right back…Liam’s eyeing both of us… and Paramount are eyeing us all, including you. Whole lot of eyeing.“. You can take that at what you will if he was being sarcastic, serious, funny but it looks like he knows he is on the radar for the film. There has been No word yet on who might get the role of Alex Murphy/Robocop in the remake, but keep check CBM for the latest updates on both projects.

ROBOCOP Remake Gets A New Writer

Posted on 01 February 2012 by Christian

They guys over at ComicBookMovie have some cool stuff, that is why we love them.. Check it out..

MGM has hired Gran Torino scribe Nick Schenk to work on a new script for their long in development remake of Paul Verhoeven’s classic sci-fi flick..

According to THR Schenk will come aboard the movie which still has director Jose Padilha attached. The two had been working together on action thriller Tri-Border

MGM have been working on getting a remake (reboot, re-imagining – whatever word they want to use) of Robocop off the ground for years now but we haven’t heard too much about it since Padila was said to have taken the director’s chair. Apparently they hope to shoot the movie in the Summer although no actor has been cast in the lead role yet. Here is what Padilha had to say about the movie previously..

Wars in the future are going to be fought with drones. We won’t send a plane with a pilot in, it will be drone. It’s getting that way now and ten years from now that’s how wars are going to be fought. But what if a drone goes wrong – who is to blame then? Do you blame the drone? And that problem asks if you can you consider a robot guilty of a crime. Or is it the corporation that made the robot that is guilty? How do you fight back against drones when you don’t have drones?

Ferris Bueller Sells Out for the Super Bowl…

Posted on 30 January 2012 by TH3 No08

Last week we were treated to a teaser for a Ferris Bueller project that set the internet on fire. It was speculated that it was everything from a reboot to a sequel to a television series. Most actually realized what it was early on when the date on the teaser matched up with the Super Bowl. Well here’s your first look at that Super Bowl commercial as Ferris Bueller sells his soul for a Honda ad. Yes they re-enacted major portions of the movie and substituted a Honda for the car used in the original. Now that I’ve ruined it for you by spoiling it feel free to watch Ferris Bueller sell out for some Honda Money.

To celebrate the launch of the all-new 2012 CR-V, Honda brought Ferris Bueller’s Day Off back in a big game commercial. We cast Matthew Broderick as himself, skipping out on a day of acting work and living it up in his all-new CR-V. Relive movie history with Honda’s fresh twist and wonderful homage to this ’80s classic.

Robert Rodat to rewrite Thor sequel

Posted on 12 January 2012 by TH3 No08

According to deadline.com Robert Rodat of Saving Private Ryan, The Patriot and the craptactular TNT’s Falling Skies fame is re-writing the sequel to last summer’s blockbuster THOR. Rodat is reworking a draft by Don Payne in the hopes to put the film into production later this year for release in 2013. I would hope that bringing in Rodat would take this film to the next level now that the awkward/semi-forced origin story is out of the way. He has a strong history of good writing that should go a long way to making this better in the long run.

First look at Amanda Seyfried as Linda Lovelace

Posted on 09 January 2012 by TH3 No08

Here’s our first picture of Amanda Seyfried as Linda Lovelace and Peter Sarsgaard as her husband Chuck Traynor (via entertainweekly) from the upcoming porn star biopic about the first female porn star to go mainstream. Lovelace was huge in the seventies with her breakthrough performance in the film “Deepthroat” and the film follows here life and documents her rise and fall. It’s sounds interesting but the only reason this is really news is because Lindsay Lohan was originally supposed to take on this role and this movie has now taken on a much higher profile since. The movie is currently in production and doesn’t have a release date. Demi Moore, Adam Brody, and Eric Roberts recently joined the cast, alongside Sharon Stone, Juno Temple, Wes Bentley, Hank Azaria, Robert Patrick, Bobby Cannavale, and Chris Noth.

The movie is based on book written by Eric Danville called The Complete Linda Lovelace and is being adapted by W. Merritt Johnson and Andy Bellin.

Synopsis

“Lovelace is the infamous star of the 1972 porn flick Deep Throat, which is one of the highest-grossing independent films of all-time. She was just a Florida schoolgirl named Linda Boreman when she met Traynor, a would-be filmmaker transformed her into a world-famous sex star. After years of being victimized, Lovelace quit the business and divorced Traynor, who she accused of taking advantage of her naivete and coercing her into porn and prostitution.”
