Green Day‘s Broadway musical American Idiot is being developed into a feature film by Universal Pictures. Oscar-winner Dustin Lance Black (Milk), is in talks to write the script, and Michael Mayer will direct. Mayer directed the stage version of the musical, which uses the songs of the punk band’s 2004 album to tell “the coming-of-age story of three small-town guys.” Produced by tom hanks and gary goetzman. Armstrong of greenday would star, has been in the stage version.
It was recently reported that 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, was set to develop the remake of The Crow. Fans of the original film are already upset that the movie is getting the reboot, and I imagine this next bit of news is going to enrage some of the fans. Bradely Cooper (The Hangover) is currently in early negotiations to take on the lead role in the film being produced by Relativity Media.
Of all places to confirm that you are producing a movie, Producer Brian Grazer decided Twitter would be the place to do it. “got off the phone with keifer yesterday, we are exited about producing 24 movie next year? Thoughts? Did you watch show?
TV
Earlier we reported that Will Ferrell was set to star in a four-episode arc on on The Office. Since then, there has been much speculation that he might become Steve Carell‘s permanent replacement. TV Line is now reporting that James Spader, Ray Romano and Catherine Tate are set to guest on the hour-long May 19 season finale as candidates for the vacant office manager position. They join previously announced finale guest stars (and possible Michael Scott replacements) Will Arnett and Ricky Gervais.
Black Dynamite further chronicles the exploits of the central character, ex-CIA agent and full-time ladies man Black Dynamite, and his crew as they avenge the death of Black Dynamite’s brother against kung-fu masters, drug-dealing pimps and The Man and his crew. The series is being developed for us by Carl Jones (The Boondocks), and it will feature the voices of the cast from the original film, which includes Michael Jai White, Tommy Davidson, Kym Whitley and Byron Minns.

Dead rising 2 getting a spinoff of sorts. In the original Dead Rising, photo-journalist Frank West was the main character. Trapped in a mall with a bunch of zombies didn’t bother him in the slightest. Rather than cowering in the corner, he got out the plastic heads of Megaman characters and just started plunking them down on zombie heads. For the sequel, Dead Rising 2, Frank was replaced with Chuck Greene, a motocross superstar who wasn’t adverse to killing a few hundred zombies himself. This was all fine and good, but it begged the questions: what if Frank had starred in the sequel instead?

Send Shyamalan back to film school…
A new site is dedicated to crowdsourcing funds to send Razzie-winning filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan back to film school.
M. Night School says: “If we all donate just one dollar, we can send M. Night back to NYU so he gets the help we all so desperately need. Let’s make it happen so we can get him enrolled before he starts principal photography on 1000 A.E.”
The site says if they raise the funds but Shyamalan refuses their check then they’ll start a scholarship in his name instead and “send the NEXT Tarantino to NYU.”
One of the site’s founders, Chris Baker, told Entertainment Weekly that he suspects Shyamalan will “probably be a little hurt” when he learns of the site, but he isn’t that concerned. “His movies do make money, for better or for worse, which is kind of the irony of the whole thing,” said Baker.
Is this over the top? Favorite Shammy movie? Where did he go wrong? Was it the hype that hurt him or just bad film making? Rumors he’s doing a movie with will smiths kids, what will he have to do to save himself?
Movie of the week.

I thought the blank cover might be something different you guys would like to check out.
They’re meant for you to take to a convention and get an artist to do a piece of art on.
