A Look Back at Those Who Have Passed in 2010

Posted on 20 December 2010 by Christian

I thought it would be interesting to see which celebrities have passed on in 2010, so I’ve compiled a list of those who have passed on.

Recently, we in the “geek” universe lost two iconic figures in Irvin Kershner, director of The Empire Strikes Back, and actor Leslie Nielsen (Airplane). So I decided to look back over the rest of the year to see who else has passed on. For the sake of this being TheNoobNews.com, I will do my best to keep the dearly departed within the realm of our topics, and maybe just toss in a few others for good measure.

James Aubry Actor (Lord of the Flies)
Michael Been Musician (The Call)
Glen Bell Businessman (Founder of Taco Bell)
Barbara Billingsly Actress (Leave it to Beaver)

Teaser Poster For Dylan Dog Movie; Dead Of Night Hits

Posted on 17 December 2010 by Christian

Check out this Italian poster for the upcoming Brandon Routh horror/comedy..

I like this poster, the trailer for the movie? Not so much. It does have a certain Buffy like charm to it and I like Routh but I dunno about this one.

In New Orleans, Dylan Dog is an ace detective whose specialty is paranormal cases. Now, he must deal with vampires, werewolves, zombies and a guardian of the Hell, due to a client’s case. With the help of Marcus Adams, his un-dead assistant, he will have to preserve the sake of the Earth.

Dead Of Night is directed by Kevin Monroe and hits theatres in Italy next March but doesn’t currently have a theatrical release date Stateside..or anywhere else for that matter.

2010 Black List Topped by Karl Rove, Lee Atwater, and Shia LaBeouf

Posted on 13 December 2010 by Christian

The Black List, a list of the best screenplays floating around Hollywood, gets released today. In the past, the scripts on the list haven’t been produced, but not so much anymore. Last year the Jim Henson biopic The Muppet Man topped the list, and the year before it was The Beaver, now starring Mel Gibson. This year it’s the potential Shia LaBeouf vehicle College Republicans, a Wes Jones screenplay about a young Karl Rove’s campaign to head up a college Republican club, run by political consultant Lee Atwater. Rounding out the top ten are a bunch of CIA, FBI, and/or crooked-cop movies, a film about Jackie Kennedy’s life in the days after her husband’s assassination (with Darren Aronofsky maybe attached to directed); a screenplay from Wentworth Miller (yes, that Wentworth Miller) called Stoker, about a teenage girl and her strange uncle; All You Need Is Kill, which has the great, high-concept logline “A new army recruit in a war against aliens finds himself caught in a time loop”; and Margin Call, about the last 24 hours of Lehman Brothers, which co-stars Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany, Zachary Quinto, and Demi Moore and premieres next month at Sundance. [24 Frames/LAT]

If you dont know about the Black List:

One day a year, Franklin Leonard transforms from midlevel studio executive mired in development meetings, script readings and note-taking into Hollywood’s most important soothsayer.

It also has a picture of them and the cd is in the back of the book in a secret slot. It would make the perfect gift for any Black Keys fan.
