Posted on 15 November 2011 by TH3 No08

John Carter is a film that has been passed around from studio to studio for awhile now and it finally looks like Disney is going to be the one to get it onto the big screen. It looks pretty epic mixing sci-fi with swords and sorcery almost like Tron meets Conan. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think.

Trailer for the E Book Meg:Origins

Posted on 26 October 2011 by TH3 No08

The on again, off again shark book that could have been a shark movie Meg is getting a prequel that looks to be only in E Book form. I really dug this book when I first read it back in the 90′s but I’ve never been really shocked that it’s not been able to be made into a movie. The ending is pretty far fetched and to do the story right would probably cost about 200 million dollars. Check out the trailer below and head over to his website to pick it up for only .99 cents.
From the Press Release:

As a teenager, NY Times best-selling author Steve Alten read JAWS

Posted on 13 October 2011 by TH3 No08

The first two books in The Strain Trilogy were a bit hit or miss for me. I enjoyed the concept behind the two but at times it seemed a bit formulaic. That being said I look forward to seeing how the third book in the series “The Night Eternal” wraps up the story. Pick it up when it hits stores on 10-25-2011 and check out the synopsis below.

Synopsis:

Moriarty: The Dark Chamber #1 review…

Moriarty: The Dark Chamber #1

I’m a big fan of the Sherlock Holmes series. I enjoy the complexity of the mysteries, the science used to solve the cases, and I really enjoy the character that inhabit the world of Sherlock Holmes. Moriarty is one of the characters created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that has actually had a much larger role in the films and movies based on the original series of books than he ever did in the two books he actually appeared in and that’s not a bad thing. Writers and filmmakers over the years have expanded on the myth of Moriarty so much that he has now become synonomous with Sherlock Holmes and now you can follow his post Sherlock Holmes life in Moriarty: The Dark Chamber.

The Dark Chamber picks up some 20 years after the death of Sherlock Holmes. Having spent the last 20 years trying to escape the demons of his past, Moriarty has now taken on a new persona and picked up where Sherlock Holmes left off, just on the dark side. He is now an investigator of sorts for the criminal underworld who also dabbles in shipping to fill his free time and give him a legitimate front. Just when things are seeming to reach normality he is threatened by a force from his past when he is hired to find Sherlock Holmes’ missing brother as well as a former professor he once knew who has also gone missing. This of course leads him back into a world he has been very careful to avoid, putting himself and everything he has worked for over the past 20 years, in danger.

I didn’t really know what to expect when I picked this book up but I soon found myself engrossed in an exciting tale not unlike many of the original Sherlock Holmes mysteries. While the dialogue was at times a bit wordy, I never found myself bored, I actually quite enjoyed the witty banter of the many back and forth conversations Moriarty had while trying to suss out clues from the crafty thieves and villains that populate this book. I would definitly recommend this to both fans of the Sherlock Holmes series as well as anyone just looking for a good read.

Alan Tudyk Joins Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Posted on 18 March 2011 by Christian

Alan Tudyk will be joining the ever-growing cast of ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.’ Keep on clicking to see which historical figure he will be portraying in the film!

Alan Tudyk will be joining the cast of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter as Stephen A. Douglas, the man that Lincoln ran against to become the 16th president of the United States.

Stephen Douglas was known as “The Little Giant” due to his small stature, but was also a political strong man and gave Lincoln a good run for the 1860 election, which as we all know, eventually went to Lincoln.

For those unfamiliar with the story, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a fictional take on the life of the 16th president and his on-going battle with vampires. When Lincoln was a child, his mother was killed by a vampire and from that moment on, Abraham vowed to rid the nation of the blood suckers.

Tudyk is mostly known for his work in Joss Whedon’s projects, such as Firefly and it’s big screen follow-up Serenity, as well as the television series ‘Dollhouse.’ Tudyk will be joining Benjamin Walker, who will be playing Abraham Lincoln, Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Anthony Mackie and Jimmi Simpson. Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) is directing the film which is set for release June 22nd, 2012

Living On Mars Can Be Murder

Posted on 05 December 2010 by Kevin Minke

I grew up on detective stories with the likes of Sherlock Holmes, Joe Friday, Agatha Christie, Jessica Fletcher, and Beckett & Castle. I’ve found that I’ve always enjoyed a good mystery no matter the medium; book, film or TV. As my friends can attest, when a story telegraphs too much to the audience, I figure out the killer and the scenario behind the deed very early on, but I still love the challenge of figuring out the mystery. I devour mysteries like a plump man devours sweets. So when the chance came to read and review D.B. Grady’s first novel, Red Planet Noir, I not only jumped at the chance but I put my own hard earned cash down to buy it from the author himself at this past Austin Comic Con. The single greatest thing I can say about the detective drama is that for the first time, in a long time, the story is so beautifully crafted and takes the reader down so many rabbit holes as it does the characters that I didn’t figure out who the killer was till the protagonist did. In that revealing line I knew what had happened and in that realization I knew that I found a story that I would read again and persuade my friends to read as well.

First the pitch of the book from its product description: (Click the image below to purchase)

Winner of the 2010 Indie Book Award for Science Fiction.

Michael Sheppard was the best private eye in New Orleans, and then his wife left him. He finds solace in the bottle and his career in the toilet. Nights at the casino pay the bills, until they don’t, and leg breakers start knocking at the door, and knocking out his teeth.

When he’s hired by a bombshell heiress to check out a murder on Mars, it’s a chance for a new start. But as the case unfolds, he makes enemies of cops and gangsters alike in an investigation racing from stately mansions to smoke-filled speakeasies, from deserted ice colonies to mining towns on the asteroid belt.

All he wanted was a paycheck to clear some gambling debt. Now Michael is the key figure in a murder conspiracy that’s left a vacuum in the halls of power, with the labor union, mob and military vying for control of Mars.
