The promotion has begun for part one of the final chapter of The Twilight Saga. Here’s a look at the first poster for the upcoming film. Look for the first teaser trailer to debut on the MTV Movie Awards next Sunday, June 5 and online immediately after the show only on IMDb.com.
THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1 opens on November 18.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad is joining the cast of what is quickly becoming one of the most talented ensemble casts we’ve seen in some time. Cranston will play the mayor of Los Angeles in this film which takes place in the 80′s rock club scene. He joins the cast that already includes Diego Gonzalez Boneta, Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige, Paul Giamatti, Julianne Hough and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Even if this movie is a musical (and it appears it will be) it has the chance to be huge. If they can capture the magic and the manic energy of the era this movie takes place in, this is gonna be a super fun film.
The film tells the story “of a small-town girl (Hough) who comes to Hollywood for the 1980s music scene and is nearly destroyed by it. Although she falls for a budding musician named Drew (Boneta), she also catches the eye of Stacee Jaxx (Cruise), an arrogant rocker at the height of his career, ends up as a stripper in a club run by Blige but also finds true love at the end.”

Movie News…
Liam Neeson Will NOT Return As Ra’s Al Ghul In The Dark Knight Rises, what about Talia Al Ghoul, his estranged daughter and
batman love interest?
Michael Moore suing the Weinsteins
The movie grossed $222 million worldwide and became the top-earning documentary ever; Moore says the profits were supposed to
be split fifty-fifty, but the Weinstein’s used “bogus accounting methods” to funnel money to their own expenses, including
trips to Europe via private jet…
will this eventually lead to the studios being investigated for this type of accounting?
James Franco in Early Talks for ‘Oz’ After Johnny Depp Passes
The Oscar-nominated host of the Academy Awards is in early talks to star in Oz, the Great and Powerful, Disney’s prequel-ish
take onThe Wizard of Oz tale being directed by Sam Raimi.
is he too young for the role of the great oz? does anyone really care about the wizard of oz world anymore?
Video Games…
Fox News has warned parents off of the upcoming M-rated game Bulletstorm (calling it “the worst video game in the world”),
alleging that it and other games in the same vein are directly responsible for an increase in the incidence of rape.
first off bullet storm doesn’t even come out untile feb 22, how can it be responsible for rape when only a few people have
even played the game? do games make you violent? i’ve played violent games since 1985, the first video game i ever played, duck hunt, i spent hours trying to figure out how to shoot the dog who laughed at me when i missed, but i never omitted a violent act against another person that was even remotely inspired by a video game.
LG Wants PS3 Sales Banned in the U.S.
says sony violate several patents including the bluray player in the ps3, this comes after several back and forth lawsuits as

Television News…
Super Bowl XLV averaged 111 million viewers and netted 162.9 total viewers, breaking the previous record for the most-watched
TV program in history. The game also had a 71 share — meaning that more than two-thirds of the televisions being watched in the country at that time were watching the Super Bowl on the Fox network. That’s the highest audience share for a Super Bowl since 1982, a time when there were far fewer television networks as competition. what makes the superbowl the biggest draw in tv? everybody else in television is down in rating yet the superbowl continues to rise… cosby at it’s height was 25 million viewers, now american idol is tops but barely gets 15 million viewers..
is it the influence of the internet, or is the amount of channels available?

Summery:
There’s nothing more exciting than college life in the big city. But complications can follow you from dark places – and not just from your boring hometown. In THE NEW YORK FIVE, Riley’s sister Angie is making a name in the Lower East Side with her new band, and now Riley is the black sheep of the family. Lona’s murky past appears to have been hiding an alarming proficiency for stalkerism, and Merissa and Ren will confront uncomfortable situations involving older men. But who is the “five” in THE NEW YORK FIVE? Find out as Vertigo reunites this cast with its stellar creative team of Brian Wood (DEMO, DMZ, NORTHLANDERS) and Ryan Kelly (LUCIFER, Local) in this standard-sized 4-issue miniseries.
The New York Five is an interesting case of a comic missing it’s mark by just enough the it doesn’t really find a home in the market that may have been interested in it. If it was meant for the female comic fan then I’m not sure they understand what female comic fans are looking for. The New York Five (written by Brian Wood) seems to be full of stereotypes of women that men wish were surrounding them at all times but just don’t really exist in real life. The lusty latina, Merissa Vasquez, struggling to keep her family together while juggling her multiple lovers. The Canadian fish out of water Lona Lo who just can’t seem to find her place in the world, and even the estranged sisters Riley and Angie Wilder who seem to always find themselves being manipulated by the same man. All stereotypes you’d see on any soap opera just not any where in real life.
It is a comic and I understand what they were trying to do and it’s what all comic writers are trying to do, tell an interesting story with interesting characters and keep people coming back every month again and again but to do that I believe you have to have a little truth in your characters not just stereotypes of people you’ve seen on reality shows or television and I found that little bit of truth lacking.
Don’t get me wrong, this is not a bad comic. It’s beautifully drawn and worth a pick up if just for the art. I particularly enjoyed the stark black and white images with the hints of pan-tone in the shadows, the beautifully emotive eye’s, and city-scapes that pop right off the page. Ryan Kelly did a great job of illustrating Brian Woods story and based on the artwork alone I’d certainly be interested in checking out episode number 2.
So if your looking for a beautifully drawn comic about hot chicks with problems living in the hippest city in the U.S. then by all means check it out. Just be prepared for a little soap opera mixed in with your usual comic book fare.
Here’s some of the great art from The New York Five…
Here’s another badass trailer for Drive Angry. This one will be featured during the Superbowl so check it out so when you see it on Sunday you can say you saw it here first…
Synopsis
“Drive Angry” stars Nicolas Cage as Milton, a hardened felon who has broken out for one last chance at redemption. Hell bent on stopping a vicious cult of fanatics who murdered his daughter, he has three days to stop them before they sacrifice his infant granddaughter beneath a full moon. Milton must use his anger to go beyond all human limits in order to save his last connection with humanity.
He’s joined by Piper, a young sexy-smart waitress who liberates her ex-boyfriend’s cherry red muscle car in order to help Milton. Now, the two of them are hot on the trail of the charismatic Jonah King and his murderous followers. King will throw every one of them faithful under the wheels of Milton’s turbo-charged Black ’71 Challenger, to fulfill his destiny and unleash hell on earth.
But the bloodthirsty cult is the least of Milton’s problems. The police are after him, too. And worse. An enigmatic killer known only as “The Accountant.” The Accountant knows what Milton is trying to and simply doesn’t care. With wicked cunning and hypnotic savagery, the Accountant will relentlessly pursue Milton at high speed across the forgotten back roads of the American south.
Fueled by high octane and pure rage, Milton and Piper must battle the onslaught of King’s disciples, avenge his murdered daughter, and save his granddaughter before his last chance at redemption is revoked.

If you’ve listened to the podcast over the months you’d surely know my deep affection for the Banksy directed film “exit through the giftshop”. The documentary keeps you guessing who’s who and what are the intentions of the mysterious street artist and his new protege. Now that he’s been nominated for best documentary MBW has stepped up his game and dropped a whole new layout to promote his nomination. (photos from laist.com)
MBW Signature
Is this MBW prepping for the the Academy Awards? If Gift Shop wins, who will go onstage to accept? And…is MBW really Banksy?
This is the statement Bansky made after he found out he was nominated,
This is a big surprise. I don’t agree with the concept of award ceremonies, but I’m prepared to make an exception for the ones I’m nominated for. The last time there was a naked man covered in gold paint in my house, it was me.
It’s my favorite doc of the years and I highly recommend you see it but truthfully, if Banksy is MBW then is it still considered a documentary?
This week on thenoobnews podcast Richard and Christian are joined in studio by Matt Jones to discuss why Christopher Nolan wasn’t nominated for best director, why video game versions of movies suck, as well as all the fallout from Kevin Smith’s big announcement from Sundance. Here’s a higher rez/better quality version of the picture we posted yesterday. Still looks great, still don’t know what the hell those guys behind him are…
Lets round out today’s costume reveals with the tri-fecta. Here’s a scan of an Entertainment Weekly photo from aintitcool.com featuring Chris Evans as Captain America. Of the three costumes revealed today this is by far the most awesome of the group. Chris Evans as the classic Captain America is really working for me. This goes to the top of movies I’m looking forward to this year. Anybody have any idea what’s going on with the robot looking guys behind him?
This from the guys over at Geek Tyrant, a screen grab from the most anticipated scene in the upcoming Breaking Dawn movie. Apparently they get married and then get it on and have a baby. Who knew vampires could do that? Certainly not me. I thought they were the undead. Well here it is, enjoy you perverts…
The director expands on his decision to not film The Dark Knight Rises in 3D, shares his thoughts on Heath Ledger winning a posthumous Oscar as well as the future of Inception and how this relates to the Batman movies…
In a fascinating interview with Deadline about his 2010 hit, Inception, the director also dropped in a few interesting bits of information about about the past and future Batman movies. Be sure to follow the link at the bottom of this article to read that, and check out the Caped Crusader related highlight below.
On Why He Decided Not To Film The Dark Knight Rises In 3D:
“In the case of Batman, I view those as iconic, operatic movies, dealing with larger-than-life characters. The intimacy that the 3D parallax illusion imposes isn’t really compatible with that. We are finishing our story on the next Batman, and we want to be consistent to the look of the previous films.”
On How He Felt When Heath Ledger Won A Posthumous Oscar:
” I was extremely gratified to see people responding to work that I knew was great. And I was very proud to have been a part in its creation, or at least in creating a world where a great artist could really show what he could do. It was a great honor to be in any way involved in that.”
On The Future Of Inception And How That Relates To His Batman Movies:
“I’ve always liked the potential of the world. It’s an infinite, or perhaps I should say an infinitesimal world that fascinates me. At the moment, we’re exploring a video game, which is something I’ve been very interested in doing for a number of years. This lends itself nicely to that. As far as sequels go, I think of Inception as one film, but that’s how I approach all my films. When I was making Batman Begins, I certainly didn’t have any thoughts of doing a second Batman film, let alone a third. You never quite know where your creative interests are going to take you, but when I was making Inception, I viewed it as a stand-alone movie.”
The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released on July 20, 2012!

Kevin Smith hates the press but apparently loves the interwebz cause that’s where he dropped an early teaser for his latest flick “RED STATE”. We’ve discussed on the podcast over the last few months our general feelings regarding this film and his approach to distribution and marketing of it and this trailer doesn’t really change any feelings I have for what he’s trying to do. Smith lists the Weinsteins in the credits (Harvey Boys) so I’m assuming he’s got distribution so we may not be treated to the public spectacle of a post screening auction like he promised but as long as it gets out there I guess that’s really all that matters. The trailer looks interesting, lots of action, creepy looking small town folk, and lots of random gun fire. We’ll see how it all comes together in March when it is slated for release.

The trailer forTerrence Malick’s long awaited film The Tree of Life is finally here, via Apple. While the trailer has been attached to copies of Black Swan in limited release, this is the first time an official high def version of the trailer has been made available online. The beautiful trailer doesn’t give us much of an idea of the story just yet, but the imagery and poetry of youth, growth and life is enough to get me excited. Featuring Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and a breakout performance from Jessica Chastain, this drama looks like it’ll be well worth the long wait.
Watch the first official trailer for Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life:
You can also watch The Tree of Life trailer in High Definition over on Apple
From Terrence Malick, the acclaimed director of such classic films as Badlands, Days of Heaven andThe Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life is the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 50′s. It follows the life journey of eldest son Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years (Penn) as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father. Jack, as an adult, finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking out answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. Through Malick’s images we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life. Fox Searchlight is bringing The Tree of Life to theaters on May 27th.
There’s big movement on Snow White and the Huntsman,Universal’s take on the suddenly hot fairy tale, which is the subject of several competing movie projects.
The studio, clearly angling to beat Relativity’s version, is in talks with Charlize Theron to play the evil queen and is having conversations with Michael Fassbender’s reps to take on the titular huntsman.
But who will nab the starring role of Snow White?
The studio initially thought of going with name actresses in that age bracket, making entreaties toward Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning and Saoirse Ronan, but is nowleaning toward going with a relative unknown and is holding screen tests in the next few days to find its leading lady. The stakes are high because, similar to Disney’s recent Alice in Wonderland adaptation, there will be stars in key roles, but the main pillar is going to be whoever ends up as the orphaned girl on the run.
Sources caution that depending on how the tests go, the studio can still reverse course and continue reaching out a bigger name. But for now, the actresses who have made Universal’s shortlist are:
– Riley Keough, the granddaughter of Elvis Presley and daughter of Lisa-Marie Presley. She made her film debut playing Marie Currie in The Runaways and recently wrapped a vampire flick with Kylie Minogue titled Jack & Diane.
– Felicity Jones, an English actress currently seen as Miranda in Julie Taymor’sThe Tempest. She also played Margot Frank in BBC’s 2009 miniseries The Diary of Anne Frank.
– Bella Heathcoat, whose major credit is the Australian soap opera Neighbours.
– Alicia Vikander, a Swedish actress with mostly TV work under her hood.
[Pictured clockwise from top left: Keough, Jones, Heathcoat and Vikander.]
Apart from Keough, who is tethered to WME, none of the girls is known to have American representation. So get to it, agents and managers!
Summit’s “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” was the No. 2 best-selling disc.
Warner Home Video’s Inception flew off retail shelves its first week in stores, displacing Summit Entertainment’s Eclipse as the top-selling disc for the week ending Dec. 12.
DreamWorks/Paramount’s Shrek Forever After, meanwhile, topped Home Media Magazine’s rental chart for the week, largely due to high demand at Redbox and Netflix. Paramount is one of the only studios that doesn’t impose a rental window on its new releases for the two rental services, which together generate nearly 60% of all rental transactions.
Shrek Forever After debuted at No. 3 on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, right behind the third Twilight movie.
Walt Disney Studios’ Toy Story 3 remains a steady holiday season seller, holding on to its No. 4 position on the sales chart in its sixth week of release.
On Nielsen VideoScan’s dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart, Inception scored an easy victory, with 65% of its unit sales coming from the high-def disc. In its second week of release, Eclipsedropped down a notch to No. 2, but it only sold 30% as many Blu-ray Discs as Inception.
Inception debuted at a lowly No. 14 on the rental chart, which isn’t surprising, given that the title is only available at brick-and-mortar retailers its first month of release. At both Blockbuster and independent video rental stores belonging to the IDEA group, Inception was No. 1.
Sarah Palin, Nicki Minaj also made the list, as did Mel Gibson, who ended up in the “Hall of Shame.”
Oscar winner Sandra Bullock was singled out from a headline-making crowd of notables that included everyone from James Franco andNatalie Portman to the Chilean minors and tops People‘s list of the 25 most intriguing people of 2010, reports Reuters. The magazine’s special issue hits stands Friday with the star of The Blind Side on its cover.
People‘s honor as Woman of the Year tops a rocky few months for Bullock, who won an Oscar in March, which was overshadowed a week later by the tabloid-baiting travails of her ex-husband Jesse James‘ reported infidelities. In August, Forbes listed the 46-year-old star of The Proposal as the highest paid actress in Hollywood.
Among the other talent that made the list are rapper Nicki Minaj and Sarah Palin, who was named the “Big Gun” of 2010.
Actor Mel Gibson made the list, too, under People‘s celebrity marriage coverage’s “Hall of Shame.”
