Captain America: The First Avenger Set To Have A BIG Impact At Comic Con!

Posted on 06 July 2011 by Christian

While we’ve already heard rumblings that Captain America will have a presence at the San Diego Comic Con, we now have a few more details including “a military salute” and special screening of the movie…

Marvel may be one of the many film studios scaling back their presence at this years San Diego Comic Con, but just because there won’t be a panel in Hall H, doesn’t mean they don’t still have something big planned. According to an exclusive report over at The Hollywood Reporter, Captain America: The First Avenger will be there in full force…as long as Chris Evans isn’t too busy working on The Avengers of course!

Well, there will be no panel, but Heat Vision has learned that, while details are still being worked out, Marvel and Paramount, which is distributing the film, are planning a military salute that would involving star Chris Evans and soldiers stationed in San Diego.

Evans would also attend the Con to do to signings at the Marvel booth.

Additionally, whispers suggest a special Con screening of the film.

One of the details needed to make all this happen is smoothing out Evans’ schedule, so who knows how much of this will come to pass.

With an all star cast which includes Chris Evans as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Hugo Weaving as Red Skull, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Tommy Lee Jones as Col. Chester Phillips, Stanley Tucci as Abraham Erskine and Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Captain America: The First Avenger will be released in 3D on July 22, later this year!

Marvel Studios Moving Forward With Short Films? Agent Coulson To Star In First Two?

Posted on 30 June 2011 by Christian

The rumor of Marvel Studios getting into the business of releasing short films for lesser known characters, a la Pixar, has resurfaced now seeming more plausible! Check it out!

Over a year ago, a huge rumor surfaced suggesting that Marvel Studios was “meeting with writers and directors to work on small scale films based on some of their unknown characters.” While the studios’ president debunked the rumor, he did however reveal his interest in the idea. And now the rumor has resurfaced, via Film School Rejects, not only suggesting the studio has made it more than just an “idea,” but they’ve already filmed two. Read the source’s report below verbatim.

Marvel Studios may be getting into the short film business to help boost their already bustling feature film trade. According to a source close to Marvel Studios, the company is setting some of their staff writers to developing smaller characters in the Marvel universe for future projects. These projects, only proposed as short films at this point, could lead to certain ancillary characters making appearances in future features or even becoming popular enough to headline their own film. hat is certain, though, is that two shorts have already been shot, both featuring actor Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson. These are to be included as special features on the Thor & Captain America DVDs & Blu-Rays that will release later in the year.

Now what may make this plausible; details for THOR‘s Blu-ray release were revealed today, with two mysterious features titled Marvel Studios – The Avengers (Bonus Featurette) and Marvel One-Shot: The Consultant: . Anyhow, the site further states that how well these short films are received, depends on the studios’ decision to move forward with other characters.

Anyhow, if true, THOR hit shelves on DVD/ Blu-ray on September 19th. Also, could the mysterious Isaiah Mustafa-starrer Luke Cage teaser, which it’s creators ordered to be removed, be another one of these shorts? What do you think?

Thanks to SpiderMedia’s RealIrOnMaN for the heads up!

“A new Thor trailer just debuted, so I thought it would be a good excuse to show a recent study of the cinematic Avengers (they’re mostly based on the concept art that made its way on-line last year). I haven’t really read any Thor comics, but I’m still excited for the movie. I like what I’ve seen so far and I can’t wait to see them all on the screen together.”

However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy’s earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment… Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the ‘Super-Soldier Serum’ and bombarded by ‘vita-rays.’ Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and leader of the Avengers.

Chris Evans Talks Preparation for Captain America & The Avengers Movies

Posted on 20 December 2010 by Christian

The actor behind the mask of the first avenger in both Captain America & the highly anticipated Avengers films answers questions gathered as preparation. Check it out!

Courtesy of my buddy, RealIronMan from Spidermedia, in the latest issue of Wizard Magazine is an in-depth Q&A session with actor Chris Evans, whose wrapped on the much-anticipated Captain America: The First Avenger, and prepping for the highly-anticipated Avengers film.

Comic book fans are particularly protective of Captain America. He is after all supposed to be the physical and moral pinnacle of humanity. Does that shield feel heavy under all that pressure?
As far as the physicality goes, that comes from the serum, and I think special effects will help me carry the load. As far as who he is as a man, the reason he’s chosen for this experiment is because he has a pure heart. It’s the morality, the nobility. He’s a real redeeming character to play, it’s exciting to think of playing him. I actually have a friend of mine who I’m modeling the character after. This guy is actually an Eagle Scout, he’s one of those guys who stayed in the Boy Scouts all the way until he was 18. He’s just a good human being. He does the right things, he’s open, he’s honest, he’s sincere, he’s selfless. It’s something that I think everyone aspires to. A lot of time I play characters who don’t have any redeeming quality [Laughing].

Besides Captain America, you also played the Human Torch in “Fantastic Four,” and “The Losers” is also based on a comic; have you had any close encounters with rabid fans?
It’s great so far, They’re so entusiastic. They want the product [to be] as good as you want the project to be. These guys live and die for it. It reminds you why you make these movies. These people want it to be good so desperatly, that you so desperatly want to give them what they’re looking for. The last time at WonderCon, we were in the middle of an interview, and I had to run to the bathroom. I raced around the corner and I threw open the bathroom door and as I was walked in, I literally bumped right into a Stormtrooper. It was the funniest thing in the world. He just washed his hands, and he picked up his helmet and blaster. It was awesome. I just laughed the whole time I was in the bathroom.

But when the casting was announced, there was positive and negative reaction. Did you keep an eye on the comments?
I can understand if fans are wondering. That’s okay. I’m obviously taking their concerns to consideration, but I can’t get too swept into it, otherwise I’ll start beating myself up and losing my confidence.

What is it knowing your going to go from a hige blockbuster like “Captain America” to an even more mammoth blockbuster in “The Avengers”?
When I was deciding whether or not to jump on board on “Captain America,” that certainly came into consideration. Well if I do “Captain America,” in a few months, I’m going to get to work with [Robert] Downey Jr. and Samuel l. Jackson and all these amazing actors. That’s a dream. But I’m trying not to get ahead of myself.

Before “The Avengers” you worked on ensembles with “Losers” and “Fantastic Four.” How do you function as part of a team?
It’s just nice having a group of people to prepare with and rehearse with and come to set every day and bounce things off of. it’s always nicer to play a back and forth game when you’re trying to act.

The Losers” looked like it was a physically insense shoot. Did you get a chance to do any of your own stunts?
There was one scene when my character does this Parkour thing up a building and I thought great, I’ve always wanted to mess around with that. The stunt guy showed me a little video of it right when I got to Puerto Rico, kind of the idea of what he was thinking. I said, this is great, let me know when we’re going to shoot this and I’ll give this a whirl. We got to that day and I was stretching and I was all ready: I got my little pads on. I walked on to the set, and I said, “Okay can the stuntman just show me what he’s doing just once.” And then the stuntman just scaled up this building-and I said, “Okay I’ll be in my trailer. Good luck guys, I’m going to have nothing to do with that. I don’t know who the hell thought I was thinking I could touch my toes a few times and then go out there and scale a building.

Danny Boyle, who directed you in 2007′s “Sunshine,” said that you were an incredibly underappreciated talent. But do you feel that’s about to change with “Captain America” and “The Avengers”?
I am definitely optimistic about the films that are coming out. I think it’s no secret that I’ve been a part of a few films that have missed the mark. And it’s upsetting when that happens. It’s upsetting working as hard as you can in your respective field given the fact that a film has all these difference creative elements to it and you can only do so much with what you are expected to do. And it’s a disappointment when a film comes out and it’s not what you hoped it would be. There’s really no formula: I’ve seen a lot of movies that I would have gladly walked out of the theater that made hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office.

While Joe Johnston directs Captain America: The First Avenger into theaters July 22, next year, director Joss Whedon assembles The Avengers on May 4, 2012. And filming begins early next year. What do you think?
