I’m a big fan of the Sherlock Holmes series. I enjoy the complexity of the mysteries, the science used to solve the cases, and I really enjoy the character that inhabit the world of Sherlock Holmes. Moriarty is one of the characters created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that has actually had a much larger role in the films and movies based on the original series of books than he ever did in the two books he actually appeared in and that’s not a bad thing. Writers and filmmakers over the years have expanded on the myth of Moriarty so much that he has now become synonomous with Sherlock Holmes and now you can follow his post Sherlock Holmes life in Moriarty: The Dark Chamber.

The Dark Chamber picks up some 20 years after the death of Sherlock Holmes. Having spent the last 20 years trying to escape the demons of his past, Moriarty has now taken on a new persona and picked up where Sherlock Holmes left off, just on the dark side. He is now an investigator of sorts for the criminal underworld who also dabbles in shipping to fill his free time and give him a legitimate front. Just when things are seeming to reach normality he is threatened by a force from his past when he is hired to find Sherlock Holmes’ missing brother as well as a former professor he once knew who has also gone missing. This of course leads him back into a world he has been very careful to avoid, putting himself and everything he has worked for over the past 20 years, in danger.

I didn’t really know what to expect when I picked this book up but I soon found myself engrossed in an exciting tale not unlike many of the original Sherlock Holmes mysteries. While the dialogue was at times a bit wordy, I never found myself bored, I actually quite enjoyed the witty banter of the many back and forth conversations Moriarty had while trying to suss out clues from the crafty thieves and villains that populate this book. I would definitly recommend this to both fans of the Sherlock Holmes series as well as anyone just looking for a good read.

Rumor: The Dark Knight Rises Script Leaks

Posted on 07 January 2011 by Christian

We have already seen one fake script featuring every single Bat villain mentioned in rumor and speculation. But now Scriptflags have been sent a much more authentic sounding document that may or may not be an early draft of Chris Nolan’s third Batman flick..

A while ago a “leaked” script for TDKR popped up online but was quickly debunked as a fake. Well here we go again. Only this time scriptflags have details of a 165 page draft dated 2010. They say that if it is a fake it’s the best fake they have ever come across, and they would see a lot! Anyway, here are the details..

Deadshot is featured being broken out of prison by The Society, headed by The Black Mask.

In Gotham, Batman has become a “myth”. Crime is down so he keeps a low profile. He has a new aerial vehicle called The Wraith, a military prototype with a 40 foot wingspan.

Wayne Manor has been rebuilt, with a new Batcave.

Deadshot meets with Black Mask(who wears an “ebony skull”). He is also an associate of Roland Dagget, CEO of Dagget Industries.

Apparently Nolan has merged the characters of Hugo Strange and Edward Nashton. Nashton, like Strange in the comics, figures out Batman’s identity and toys with him. Despite Nashton’s appearance, no mention is made of The Riddler. He would appear to be a completely different character.

Jim Gordon is said to play out his role almost identically as he does in Prey, hunting Batman with the aid of a Detective Adams.

Talia Al Ghul makes a brief appearance, but no mention is made of a primary female villain, or indeed of the secondary female character Nolan is said to be currently casting. This suggests that if this is on the level, its a very early draft.

That’s pretty much where Scriptflags’ synopsis ends. You can click the link below to see their wording. They make no more mention of the part Deadshot would play or how Talia fits into the story. They say they are waiting for word on its authenticity before going into any more detail. What do you think? Could these be genuine plot details from a draft of Chris and Jonathan Nolan’s

“Transformers: Dark of the Moon” features Sam Witwicky (LaBeouf) taking his first tenuous steps into adulthood while remaining a reluctant human ally of Optimus Prime. The film centers around the space race between the U.S.S.R. and the USA, suggesting there was a hidden Transformers role in it all that remains one of the planet’s most dangerous secrets. The villain of the third film will be Shockwave.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon hits theaters July 1, 2011.

Did Anne Hathaway Confirm That She’s Up For A Role In The Dark Knight Rises?

Posted on 21 December 2010 by Christian

Well, sort of. When asked about the rumors, she doesn’t deny them and talks about competing with other actresses. Hit the jump to decide what you make of what she had to say…

Bit of an odd one this. In an interview with Deadline, it was put to the actress that she’s recently been mentioned to be in a running for a role in the highly anticipated third installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise. As you can see from the following question/answer, she doesn’t deny the rumor and seems to address the fact that she’s competing with many other actresses (who were also revealed to be in the running when she was).
