COMICS: Marvel Reveals Plans For Ongoing Dexter Series By Creator Jeff Lindsey!

Posted on 17 October 2011 by Christian

They may now be owned by Disney, but that doesn’t mean Marvel have gone soft! At yesterday’s “Cup ‘O Joe” panel, it was revealed that the creator of the TV show will write an ongoing comic book series featuring the serial killer…

Well, this should please fans of Dexter! However, if like me you prefer the TV show over the novels, this may not come as such great news due to the fact that the planned comic book series will be written by the creator of the character and set in the world of Jeff Lindsey’s books – and as you may know, they’re pretty different from the Showtime series starring Michael C. Hall! Many thanks to Comic Book Resources for the following.

The panel wrapped with Quesada saying, “I don’t know if you guys are fans of this little series called ‘Dexter’…” He then revealed that novelist Jeff Lindsay will bring the popular character to comics with an all-new ongoing series with new stories set in the world of the “Dexter” novels (as opposed to the TV series).

And thanks to the guys over at Bleeding Cool for this photo taken at the panel in New York.

First clip from Disney’s Winnie The Pooh…

Posted on 31 March 2011 by TH3 No08

I grew up on Winnie The Pooh. I read the books as a child and enjoyed the movies and cartoons over the years. Watching this clip really brings back a lot of memories as well as a newfound respect for the old school animation they used back then. It’s crazy to think about all the work that went into that the way they used to do things and how its been automated in today’s digital work flow. Any way, the clip looks good. I look forward to taking my kids to check this out when it hits theaters April 14 2011.

Synopsis…

Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the Hundred Acre Wood with “Winnie the Pooh,” the first big-screen Pooh adventure from Disney animation in more than 35 years. With the charm, wit and whimsy of the original featurettes, this all-new movie reunites audiences with the philosophical “bear of very little brain” and friends Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga, Roo

The new Winnie the Pooh Trailer tugs hard at your heart strings

Posted on 14 November 2010 by Kevin Minke

Thank you John Lasseter, for bring back one of my childhood favorites, Winnie the Pooh, and keeping the watercolor look that made it a classic to me.

Already in this trailer, this film looks better than the last couple of outings that I’ve seen hit the direct to DVD market and I won’t even mention them here. So far having Lasseter as the Cheif Creative Officer at Walt Disney Animation studios has been the best deal that studio could have ever made.

Thank you John for not make this 3D and making a new classic, I bet, for all of us to come to love.

Disney Want Marvel Movie Character Rights Back From Sony And Fox!

Posted on 06 October 2010 by Christian

Disney want the rights back to Fantastic Four, X-Men, Daredevil and Spider-Man but it might not be that easy despite the fact that their lawyers are apparently looking through their agreements for some sort of loophole…
Here are the main excerpts from the report over at IESB:

There are four Marvel franchises that Disney does not control and word is they want them back. Three are controlled by 20th Century Fox and one by Sony.

Insiders are telling IESB Disney would love to get Fantastic Four back under their control and that this series, above all, fits the Disney mold the best being the first superhero family.

While Daredevil isn’t considered a first tier character, the Mouse House wants Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil back under the control of Marvel Entertainment.

Disney will never and I mean never, ever, not in a 100 years, get this property back under the control of Marvel Entertainment, just not going to happen. Fox owns all of these properties for perpetuity, in other words, for-ev-ver….for-ev-ver…

Word on the street is Fox has made it very clear that they will not let go of any of the properties under their control for any live action medium.

We’ve also been told that if it ever came to the point where they were going to lose any property they own because of failing to have a movie in production, they would simply produce a low budget, straight-to-DVD feature and stick it in any theater to fulfill their theatrical release clause.

So what about Sony’s Spider-Man franchise? Same thing as the Fox deal, the contracts protect the studio 100% but they do have to continue to make movies with the Marvel characters on a regular basis. Spider-Man is not going anywhere, that also includes Venom.

Bottom line, the Sony and Fox contracts are rock solid. They will both keep their respective properties under their control. But you can be sure because they have plenty of money to spend, Disney will still have those Mickey Mouse lawyers looking for a loop hole….and to that I say, good luck!

As I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s a real pity that Fox and Sony have such a tight grip on these characters especially as the former are well known for making awful movies based on the Marvel superheroes they hold the rights to. I’d love to see Spider-Man teaming up with Daredevil or the Fantastic Four in a shared universe and find it hard to imagine just how amazing it would be to see characters like them given the big screen treatment they deserve from Marvel Studios! Be sure to share your thoughts on this in the usual place!

Guillermo del Toro Pitching a Take on ABC

Posted on 06 October 2010 by Christian

Marvel & ABC’s tentative live-action series for the “Incredible Hulk” reportedly already has a pitcher in Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro. Check it out!

The announcement of Marvel Studios teaming up with Disney’s ABC network is said to adapt many of Marvel’s comic properties into live-action television series. And one of those properties being ‘The Incredible Hulk,’ the studio is reportedly setting the series as a top priority. And now Io9 is claiming:

“Hulk has a “showrunner wanted” [sign] around its neck, and sources are saying that Guillermo del Toro and Battlestar Galactica producer David Eick will be pitching a take.”

The site further claims that ABC had no comment, neither confirming or denying it. But with great CBM titles under his belt, such as Hellboy, it’s sequel, and Blade II, what do you think of Guillermo del Toro pitching a weekly Incredible Hulk series?
