First Trailer For Pirates Of The Caibbean: On Stranger Tides Hits

Posted on 14 December 2010 by Christian

Disney have unveiled the first trailer for the 4th Pirates movie. Check it out…

Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow along with Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa. New cast members include Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane. The trailer shows off a whole new world of adventures seeking the Fountain of Youth, with the group encountering zombies and mermaids this time around. I enjoyed all of the Pirates movies so far, to a lesser extent even the incredibly convoluted At Worlds End. I think this looks pretty good. How bout you?

Johnny Depp and Gore Verbinski to Reteam on Lone Ranger

Posted on 24 November 2010 by Christian

Deadline.com is offering up an exclusive report confirming the reuniting of Johnny Depp and Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy director Gore Verbinski on The Lone Ranger, in which Depp will portray Tonto.

One of the downsides of Depp expressing interest in so many different projects is that it creates a backlog that can years to navigate. For instance, Dark Shadows, which has been in the works for several years now, is finally getting in front of the cameras in April. Now it looks like The Lone Ranger is moving up in line.

Writes Deadline, “When we last left this project, Pirates of the Caribbean 1-3 director Gore Verbinski was getting serious about saddling up for The Lone Ranger, the Disney pic that has Jerry Bruckheimer producing with Johnny Depp playing Tonto. Now we’ve learned that Disney just locked in the helmer. Still no word on when the film will begin production or who’ll play the Lone Ranger.”

Tim Burton Briefly Updates Dark Shadows and Frankenweenie

Posted on 24 November 2010 by Christian

One of the things that MTV is thankful for is Tim Burton, and in an interview with the director they managed to get updates on several projects, among them Dark Shadows and the feature length version of the director’s short film, Frankenweenie.

What follows is an excerpt from that interview:

MTV: It sounds like you’ll be shooting “Dark Shadows” with Johnny [Depp] soon?

Burton: Yeah, I’m working on the script, and, you know, it’s been kind of a long time coming, but I think I’m getting a script that I like. I don’t really like talking because I’m not really sure what’s happening yet but I’m excited about it. I think, yes, finally for me, it’s getting to be the right tone.

MTV: Have you and Johnny talked specifically about his take on Barnabas?

Burton: Yeah, we’ve been talking about it. I mean, He’s finishing up another movie, but we’ve had a couple of really good meetings. Yeah, you know, I’m excited.

MTV: Have you started shooting “Frankenweenie”?

Burton: We just started a couple of shots. It’s good. We’ve got a pretty low budget, but I’m excited about it. We’ve got a couple of shots that are done. Yeah, it’s just starting. It’s great.

MTV: Is it exciting to revisit that story?

Burton: We’re changing it a little bit. I wouldn’t do it if it felt like it was just doing the same thing. For me, it’s about trying to go back to the original drawings and kind of capture that spirit a little bit more of what the drawings are. It feels different even though it’s a similar story, but we’re kind of expanding it a bit.
