Mark Wahlberg Waiting On The Script For The Crow Remake!

Posted on 24 November 2010 by Christian

While promoting his upcoming film The Fighter with MTV, the actor reveals he is interested in the The Crow Remake but is waiting on the script before making up his mind.

“I’m interested in the director,” Wahlberg told MTV News. “But there’s no real script and nothing is set up, so…”

With intended director Stephen Norrington no longer involved with the project we can’t be sure which director he is talking about. Has a new unnamed director taken over The Crow remake? Does Wahlberg still believe Norrington is involved? Who knows. The only facts we know are that the remake is happening and Wahlberg is at least interested in reading the script.

The Crow was a 1994 smash hit starring Brandon Lee as the deceased rock star who rises from the grave to avenge the murder of himself and his fiancee. The Crow would be Brandon Lee’s last movie. Sadly the death of its lead actor did not stop the franchise with three more less then popular sequels each starring different actors.

So what do you fans of The Crow think? You know where to talk about it.

Industry Roundup: Mark Wahlberg to Star in Seth Macfarlane

Marky and the Bear: Mark Wahlberg will play the human lead in Seth Macfarlane’s directorial debut, a $65 million R-rated buddy comedy titled Ted about a man and his best friend, a living teddy bear voiced by Macfarlane. Wahlberg will spend the movie getting frustrated with the bear, “a carousing, irresponsible slacker,” for “getting in the way of his buddy committing to adulthood and the girl he loves.” Why does it sound like You, Me, and Dupree with a splash of CGI? [Deadline]

Easy As Pi: After auditioning 3,000 teenagers in a global talent search, director Ang Lee has found someone to play the lead in his upcoming film rendition of Yann Martel’s novel Life of Pi. His name is Suraj Sharma, and he’s never acted before. He will play “16-year old Pi Patel, a youth who gets stranded for 227 days through shark-infested waters aboard a 26-foot lifeboat with a wounded zebra, a spotted hyena, a seasick orangutan, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger.” Shooting starts in January. [Deadline]

No Wabbits: Brothers Kevin Hageman and Dan Hageman (Hotel Transylvania) have sold a pitch to Warner Bros. that revolves “around the fictional ACME warehouse” (i.e., Wile E. Coyote). It does not leave room for the studio to develop a new franchise around the Looney Toons brand, as the hallmark characters will not be making an appearance in the movie. Instead, the film will be a live action/CGI hybrid made in “a tone that recalls the Amblin pics of the 1980s or a Men in Black

Mark Wahlberg Offered Lead In The Crow Remake

Posted on 06 October 2010 by Christian

Is it April already? Apparently Wahlberg has been approached to star in the upcoming remake from Relativity Media..

Bloody Disgusting are reporting that Marky Mar., sorry, Mark Wahlberg is being sought by Relativity Media to star in their upcoming remake of the 1994 flick based on James O’Barr’s graphic novel. The original is a cult classic and of course featured the last performance of Brandon Lee as Eric Draven who was tragically killed on set.

Personally I can’t think of a more miscast actor for this role. Lets hope he declines. Musician/screenwriter Nick Cave has been working on a rewrite with Stephen Norrington (Blade, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen ) attached to direct. We don’t know if the film will feature the character of Eric Draven once again, but it is said to be another adaptation of the O’Barr graphic novel so unless they are going to drastically change things up its a fair bet.
