Some games are works of wonder and beauty, and playing them reaffirms our humanity. When life is hard and stressful, those games make us forget our worries and allow us to relax, giving us a rejuvenating boost that allows us to face another day.
These are not those games. These games make our urge to kill rise just a little bit each time until we prove critics right about video games causing violence by hunting down the level designer and throttling him. Instead, though, we have to stifle those murderous urges, especially since we’re more likely to take them out on our poor controller.
Today I’m chronicling eight games that made us want to destroy our controllers, from the old-school difficulty of the NES all the way to the modern era. The mere mention of these games, and certain levels within, will send gaming veterans into fits of PTSD. For every pleasant gaming memory, there is also one of these:
First game footage revealed for the Nintendo 3DS version of Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, and it actually looks fun!
I haven’t been able to find this video on the site, so I thought I would post it for our CBM and video game fans. The Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters video game is making its way to almost every gaming platform known to man, and I found this video yesterday that highlights the Nintendo 3DS version of the game. While not as beefy as the next-gen consoles, the portable version looks like it could be quite fun…
In Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, players will fill the role of gifted pilot Hal Jordan, the first human Green Lantern, and create an arsenal of ring constructs and take flight in outer space and beyond to restore intergalactic order. Players will use the Power Ring to build an array of weapons from green energy to defeat the Manhunters
The internet is running wild with rumors regarding the IPad 3 and whether or not it will have glasses free 3d capability or not. Apparently developers have been working like mad to come up with content for the future release of the IPad and Hollywood producers are clamoring for more 3d content. This could very well be the death knell for the already much maligned Nintendo 3ds. Apple Releasing technology that not only plays games in glass free 3d as well as movies would certainly be a game changer for Nintendo and probably push them out of a market they probably weren’t well prepared to get into in the first place. From it’s release the Nintendo 3ds has been plagued with complaints of not only eye strain and technical problems with the games but a general lack of good content beyond the basic 3d gimmick. I would hope that Apple would be a little more prepared and do a little more testing on it’s 3d technology before releasing it to the general public to avoid such embarrassing issues.
A few years ago I stumbled across the small spanish horror movie [REC]. It was a verite style horror movie, filmed from various helmet cameras and television cameras to capture the action taking place in a small apartment complex as a zombie/demon/rabies outbreak happened. It was awesome, I loved it, I couldn’t wait to see the sequel [REC] 2 when it was announced and I was not dissappointed when I did see it. Now I’m equally excited to see that they are moving forward with two more films that will fill in the gaps between the first two films as well as spread the story to the world outside the apartment building. Let the awesomeness ensue…
Blooding-Disgusting has reported that Leticia Dolera has been cast alongside Diego Martin for [REC] Genesis. Paco Plaza and Jaume Balaguero will split directing duties for the final two films in the franchise,
This comes courtesy of the french site Cineheros. The actual character and suit designs looks all digital and fake much like the other green lantern suits but he does look like the comic version of Sinestro. I’ll try and hold off judgement of this movie until i see it but i’ve been a bit underwhelmed by the what I’ve see of it so far…

Kevin Smith hates the press but apparently loves the interwebz cause that’s where he dropped an early teaser for his latest flick “RED STATE”. We’ve discussed on the podcast over the last few months our general feelings regarding this film and his approach to distribution and marketing of it and this trailer doesn’t really change any feelings I have for what he’s trying to do. Smith lists the Weinsteins in the credits (Harvey Boys) so I’m assuming he’s got distribution so we may not be treated to the public spectacle of a post screening auction like he promised but as long as it gets out there I guess that’s really all that matters. The trailer looks interesting, lots of action, creepy looking small town folk, and lots of random gun fire.
It’s been a slow week here at the noob news but santa’s elves dropped a little something in our stocking early. The Drive Angry 3d trailer is here! This looks like a crazy hodpodge of supernatural
It’s hard for me to review a Coen brothers movie and not hold them to a higher standard than I hold most other film makers. It’s not fair to them that I consider their body of work up to this point the most well produced, expertly written, and superbly directed collection of films I have ever seen.
