Wednesday Artist Of The Day: Tim Doyle

Posted on 09 March 2011 by TH3 No08

Over the next couple of weeks we are going to take a look at some of the talented comic writers and artists we spent time with at Staple-Austin over the past weekend. We had a great time meeting and interviewing these guys and girls and want to give you a chance to check out some of their work. Tim Doyle is a artist who is well know for his poster designs and graphic art work as well as his work on The Intergalactic Nemesis. You can find more of his work at mrdoyle.com as well as anywhere you’ve seen a movie poster and gone “Wow, I’ve never seen a movie poster this awesome, did the studio make this?” More than likely they didn’t and it was Tim Doyle’s work you were drooling over.

Weird But True: Seattle Superhero Blocks Kick With Nose!

Posted on 12 January 2011 by Christian

Seattle Superhero Phoenix Jones (aka: The Guardian of Seattle) just received a reality check in the form of being the proud new recipient of a broken nose!

Since Kick Ass this is happening more and more.

You would think after watching an actor get shot and beat to near death (Kick Ass) would detour any Spandex crime fighting by a random citizen in real life. But it didn’t and now we have guys out there like Phoenix Jones. Phoenix Jones is one crazy guy but he’s got nuts the size of two 1 ton wrecking balls, yet, the Man of Steel he is not.

This from the SeattlePI:

‘One of Seattle’s self-proclaimed super heroes had his nose broken and was threatened at gunpoint Saturday, prompting police to again ask that he and others stop with the costumes and call 911.’

Notice the beginning of the quote said ‘One of’. Does this mean there are more Seattle Super Heroes waiting in the wings? Is this the first of a long line of broken noses and pistol whipped Petes?

Phoenix Jones is having none of the ‘Call 911′ talk, last week on ‘Good Morning America’ Jones said calling 911 was like waving a white flag, in fact Phoenix had this to say in response:

“I endanger my life with a reason and a purpose.”

Phoenix went on to say something that rings true to many defenseless victims of crime:

“If police aren’t here, criminals feel free to run wild in my city,” he continued. “And I’m not going to stand for it.”

To which Seattle PD responded:

“Does Superman get his ass kicked?” one detective asked. “These people should not be called super heroes.”

Hell yes they should! Forget about Team Edward or Team Jacob, I pick Team Phoenix! I wonder if the thugs and hoodlums of Seattle sit in fear saying ‘Better not jack that old lady or The Guardian will come %^&* you up?’ I serioulsy doubt it but I support Phoenix Jones!

Phoenix Jones, if you read this please send me an email, We would love to have an interview with you…

CONFIRMED: Elijah Wood To Return As Frodo In The Hobbit

Posted on 07 January 2011 by Christian

My God. Just bring back the entire LOTR cast and be done with it. As an update to the news that WB will distribute The Hobbit, Deadline now report that Wood, who played Frodo Baggins in the original trilogy may return for the prequel..

You can see the full details of WB worldwide distribution deal with The Hobbit in ED’s article below. But Deadline have posted this update to that story..

I’ve learned that Warner Bros will, in fact, pay the entire cost of the two installments of The Hobbit, a price-tag that is expected to exceed $500 million. Now, the question will be which cast members from The Lord of the Rings come back for encores.

“Transformers: Dark of the Moon” features Sam Witwicky (LaBeouf) taking his first tenuous steps into adulthood while remaining a reluctant human ally of Optimus Prime. Teaser Poster For Dylan Dog Movie; Dead Of Night Hits

Posted on 17 December 2010 by Christian

Check out this Italian poster for the upcoming Brandon Routh horror/comedy..

I like this poster, the trailer for the movie? Not so much. It does have a certain Buffy like charm to it and I like Routh but I dunno about this one.

In New Orleans, Dylan Dog is an ace detective whose specialty is paranormal cases. Now, he must deal with vampires, werewolves, zombies and a guardian of the Hell, due to a client’s case. With the help of Marcus Adams, his un-dead assistant, he will have to preserve the sake of the Earth.

Dead Of Night is directed by Kevin Monroe and hits theatres in Italy next March but doesn’t currently have a theatrical release date Stateside..or anywhere else for that matter.

Posted on 12 December 2010 by TH3 No08

Uncharted 3 Drakes Deception hit the airwaves last night appearing on the Spike TV video game awards show and the thirty second teaser clip did not disappoint. Featuring some of the most realistically rendered cg cut scenes i have ever seen in a game, i was literally blown away by what they have created. Each new generation of this game seems to bring us closer and closer to the photo realistic gaming we’ve been told would
