Official Synopsis For Spike Lee’s Oldboy

Posted on 01 November 2011 by Christian

The official plot synopsis for Spike Lee’s upcoming remake of the 2003 Korean film Oldboy has hit the web. Sounding a lot like the original film (as expected), check it out after the jump!

Collider has received some plot details for various Lionsgate films that will be out in the future, and one of those films was for Spike Lee’s upcoming remake of Oldboy, starring Josh Brolin and set to begin production sometime next Spring (Collider says that the film will be released sometime next year). The below synopsis sounds very similar to the plot for the original film (as expected, of course), so while not very revealing, it’s certainly worth a look…

Cast: Josh Brolin

Director: Spike Lee

Writer: Mark Protosevich

Synopsis:
A man kidnapped and imprisoned on his daughter

Josh Brolin attached to star in Oldboy remake

Posted on 29 August 2011 by TH3 No08

There’s been a lot talk lately about Josh Brolin starring in Spike Lee’s remake of the classic film Oldboy and now it is official. Brolin is attached to the film and will be playing the lead character of Oh Daesu from the original. Also rumored to be taking the role of the evil counterpart Woo-Jin Lee is Christian Bale. These two actors combined with Spike Lee’s talent for story telling could make for a very dynamic retelling of the original story. The only concern I would have for this remake is how much of the story would have to changed for American audiences for it to be more palatable. There’s a lot of violence and the twist at the end of the movie will definitely be reworked or this movie will not make a dollar in American theaters and that’s super sad. Check out the trailer for the original for a taste of what’s to come (hopefully).

Spike Lee In Talks To Helm Oldboy Remake

Posted on 06 July 2011 by Christian

This could be the closest this excellent director could get to a CBM as word is Lee is in talks to direct the Hollywood version of the original Manga/Dark Horse comic book..

If you have seen Park Chan Wook’s original Oldboy then you know that it wouldn’t exactly seem like a natural fit for Steven Spielberg and Will Smith. But they are the heavy hitters originally in line to bring an American remake(although their version was said to be a more direct adaptation of the original Manga) to the screen. Well, Spielberg is out but Twitchfilm reports that another high profile director may take his place..

Twitch has learned that Spike Lee is currently in talks to direct the long-rumored Hollywood remake of Park Chan-Wook
