The Poster Wall #2

Posted on 25 March 2011 by TH3 No08

We’ve got a ton of great content for the poster wall that’s been collected from various places around the internet this past week including everything from low budget indies, foreign films, fan made posters and some pretty cool series posters. Lets get started…

Up first is a collection of fan made posters created for the upcoming X-Men: First Class film by two different artists. These are all incredible pieces of work and have a real sense of late 60′s early 70′s style that really works for this movie which looks back at the beginning of the X-Men saga.
Artist: Jeffery Zang

Artist: Dane Frost

Up next is another collection of posters from Tim Gunn’s film “Super” starring Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page. Very cool layout hi-lighting the costume design and the signature catch phrases of the movies two super hero characters.

Ellen Page’s Boltie

Rainn Wilson’s Crimson Bolt

Here’s a couple of posters for some indie movies hitting festivals around the country right now. These are two horror movies that come from complete opposite ends of the film making spectrum. The dark and very controversial film “A Serbian Film” and “Rubber” of the more light hearted. campy, splatter film variety. Two cool posters that prove there’s a little something for everyone out there, you just have to search for it sometimes.

Here are a few random selections from some summer flicks coming up. The “Attack the Block” poster is a nice wide format we don’t usually see in here showcasing what looks be an alien invasion. This is from a British movie starring Nick Frost of “Shuan of the Dead” fame. Also included is the Hollywood poster for “Cars 2″. Nothing special worth noting in this one. Seems kinda boring compared to what we’ve seen so far. Oh, and be on the look out for the Mo Brothers film GFG. That stands for Goddamn Motherfucking Ghouls. The film is said to take place in a hotel, where a group of folks are defending themselves from a bunch of flesh eating ghouls. Sounds interesting…

And finally here’s a look at some limited edition posters created by some boutique poster designers for limited runs. The “Sucker Punch” poster was created by artist Ken Taylor for Mondo Tees to celebrate the release of Zack Snyder‘s new movie. This is the first of several movie posters being designed for Snyder’s films, which includes Dawn of the Dead, 300, Legend of the Guardians and Watchmen. Go here to pick up one of these. Also featured is a very cool “Back to the Future” poster created by Justin Erickson as part of TIFF’s Back to the 80′s film series. The posters are not commercially available, they are not on sale and never will be. While the images will be used online, the number of physical copies will be limited to ten. Five copies are being kept for the people involved in putting the series together. And the other five? Those are being given away to people attending the screening.

Thanks for checking out this weeks collection and be sure to check back next week for another round of posters sure to keep you looking forward to what’s coming out next.

Crazy tentacle fun from James Gunn’s SUPER

Posted on 18 March 2011 by TH3 No08

When seeing the early trailers and teasers for “SUPER” I was under the assumption we were going to be treated to a movie similar to Observe and Report or Kick Ass where the average guy tries to take on the bad guys with nothing but his wits and a pipe wrench. I was wrong. Apparently The Crimson Bolt has some super powers and you’re about to find out how he got them. Hold on to your hat cause a crazy tentacle monster is about to take it off and do some damage…

After Frank’s (Wilson) wife leaves him for a seductive, psychopathic drug dealer (Kevin Bacon), Frank is transformed and the Crimson Bolt is born. With a hand-made suit, a wrench, and a crazed sidekick named Boltie (Ellen Page), the Crimson Bolt beats his way through the mean streets of crime in hopes of saving his wife (Liv Tyler). The rules were written a long time ago: You are not supposed to molest children, cut lines or key cars; if you do, prepare to face the wrath of the Crimson Bolt!

Two New Posters For James Gunn’s “SUPER”

Posted on 14 March 2011 by TH3 No08

I dig James Gunn’s work up to this point. He wrote the excellent “Dawn of the Dead” remake as well as directing “Slither” and also married and divorced Pam Beasley. Those reasons alone put “Super” at the top of my list when it first hit the net that he was working on it. Also I super love Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page so this movie is a definite win/win for me. ellen page… Have a look at two posters from the movie and then check out the trailer below…

Frank (Rainn Wilson) is an average guy who transforms himself into superhero The Crimson Bolt after his wife Sarah (Liv Tyler) hooks up with a smooth-talking drug dealer, Jacques (Kevin Bacon). What Frank lacks in superpowers, he makes up for with a trusty wrench in his one-man war on crime. But every superhero needs a sidekick. Enter Libby (Ellen Page), a cute psychopath working at the local comic book store. Transforming into “Boltie”, Libby teams up with Frank to take Jacques down. From the surprising imagination of writer-director James Gunn (Slither) comes Bolt and Boltie, a crazed crime fighting duo for the XBox generation. They’re here to save the day, or at least to beat you up. IFC Films will release the movie on April 1st 2011..
