Despite some controversial changes to the movies, the Blu-Ray collection of all six Star Wars movies has become a best-seller, setting all new records for blu-ray sales! Hit the jump for details…
According to Variety, Star Wars: The Complete Saga has sold more than one million copies across the world since it was first released, breaking records for the high-definition Blu-Ray format. Making $84 million from worldwide sales, and $38 million from the US alone, it’s been a huge success for Lucasfilm and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Seems like those changes made by George Lucas didn’t bother that many fans after all!
“Once again our fan’s enthusiasm to celebrate ‘Stars Wars’ continues to amaze us,” Kayleen Walters, senior director, marketing at Lucasfilm told the site. “Our goal was to deliver a premium product that they could enjoy with their family and friends and we are thrilled that they are enjoying it as much as we hoped they would.”
“Star Wars is a franchise with universal stories that resonates as much today as it did 30 years ago,” added Mary Daily, executive VP of marketing for Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Vincent Marcais, senior VP of international marketing for Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. “With the Blu-ray, audiences can go deeper into the mythology than ever before and reconnect with everything they love about the saga in the best possible quality.”

The latest rumor surrounding upcoming Bourne movie (sans Matt Damon as Jason Bourne) is that Captain America: The First Avenger star Chris Evans is the favorite to play the lead character…

I’m not sure about you guys, but a Bourne movie WITHOUT Jason Bourne just does not sit right with me. After recent reports listed several well known actors who were said to be in the running to replace Matt Damon in this film (none of who excited me that much) a rumor has emerged today that points at Captain America himself being favourite to star in The Bourne Legacy!
Sources tell Think McFly Think Evans is being considered by Universal for The Bourne Legacy. Word is they’re seeing big fat dollar signs with Captain America (that Superbowl TV spot went over like gangbusters and we should be getting the trailer soon) and writer/director Tony Gilroy likes what he’s seen from Evans’ past performances.
Replacing Matt Damon is proving to be a [female dog], and having a hot actor coming off a hit movie would help ease audiences into this new Bourne-absent installment. That’s why those rumblings of Shia LaBeouf’s candidacy, even Tobey Maguire, make perfect sense and Evans’ schedule will be clear after The Avengers wraps and well before any Captain America sequel.
What do you guys think about this? With The Bourne Legacy expected to be released sometime in the Summer of 2012, they’d need to start filming almost right after Evans finishes work on The Avengers – a busy schedule for the actor, but it could easily be done. While you may argue the merit of the Twilight saga of films, and many certainly have up to this point, you certainly can’t argue that they know how to take care of their fans when it comes to the special edition DVD’s they release. In an age of penny pinching by studios
