We already knew that Marvel Studios and Warner Bros. were scaling back on the big movie presentations, but I’m pretty sure that the majority of us were still hoping for a surprise of some sort. A last minute panel for The Avengers? An early look at The Dark Knight Rises or Man of Steel perhaps? Nope! While there are a fair few decent panels, and plenty on offer for TV fans, the usually awesome last Sunday of the event looks set to be a quiet news day here on CBM!

SUNDAY, JULY 24

Captain America: The First Avenger Set To Have A BIG Impact At Comic Con!

Posted on 06 July 2011 by Christian

While we’ve already heard rumblings that Captain America will have a presence at the San Diego Comic Con, we now have a few more details including “a military salute” and special screening of the movie…

Marvel may be one of the many film studios scaling back their presence at this years San Diego Comic Con, but just because there won’t be a panel in Hall H, doesn’t mean they don’t still have something big planned. According to an exclusive report over at The Hollywood Reporter, Captain America: The First Avenger will be there in full force…as long as Chris Evans isn’t too busy working on The Avengers of course!

Well, there will be no panel, but Heat Vision has learned that, while details are still being worked out, Marvel and Paramount, which is distributing the film, are planning a military salute that would involving star Chris Evans and soldiers stationed in San Diego.

Evans would also attend the Con to do to signings at the Marvel booth.

Additionally, whispers suggest a special Con screening of the film.

One of the details needed to make all this happen is smoothing out Evans’ schedule, so who knows how much of this will come to pass.

With an all star cast which includes Chris Evans as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Hugo Weaving as Red Skull, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Tommy Lee Jones as Col. Chester Phillips, Stanley Tucci as Abraham Erskine and Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Captain America: The First Avenger will be released in 3D on July 22, later this year!
