Becoming X

Posted on 16 March 2012 by lreed

It’s been awhile since I have heard Chris Corner’s voice, today was luck would have it I heard the sweet melody of the Sneaker Pimps with their song Bloodsport. I remember playing their cd in my very first car all during high school. It was then I became hooked to Chris’ voice and the addictive beat that is so submerged in his lyrics. The Sneaker Pimps broke up shortly after their album Splinter, however various sources would say that they never broke up at all, they just had a conflict with one of their band mates. Years went by and Chris went on to start his solo career under the name “IAMX.” He later came out with his first album “Kiss + Swallow,” which would lead his career into the spotlight in trip-hop. IAMX’ albums are dark and edge with an array of trip-hop beats intermingled among it. Since his first album in 2008 to present day he has four albums and in the studio working on his fifth album which has yet to be titled. Chris Corner is a true artist that has a very unique sound and style, which will leave you intrigued and wanting more. His latest album Volatile Times is very well produced however a personal favorite of mine is his second album “The Alternative,” which has number one songs on it such as; “President”, “Nightlife” and my personal favorite “Bring me back a dog.” If you are like me and loved the Sneaker Pimps then check out “IAMX,” because you might find a striking resemblance. I will leave you with my favorite song of his, “President,” (please keep in mind this is not one of his best music videos, just listen to the music).

ROBOCOP Remake Gets A New Writer

Posted on 01 February 2012 by Christian

They guys over at ComicBookMovie have some cool stuff, that is why we love them.. Check it out..

MGM has hired Gran Torino scribe Nick Schenk to work on a new script for their long in development remake of Paul Verhoeven’s classic sci-fi flick..

According to THR Schenk will come aboard the movie which still has director Jose Padilha attached. The two had been working together on action thriller Tri-Border

MGM have been working on getting a remake (reboot, re-imagining – whatever word they want to use) of Robocop off the ground for years now but we haven’t heard too much about it since Padila was said to have taken the director’s chair. Apparently they hope to shoot the movie in the Summer although no actor has been cast in the lead role yet. Here is what Padilha had to say about the movie previously..

Wars in the future are going to be fought with drones. We won’t send a plane with a pilot in, it will be drone. It’s getting that way now and ten years from now that’s how wars are going to be fought. But what if a drone goes wrong – who is to blame then? Do you blame the drone? And that problem asks if you can you consider a robot guilty of a crime. Or is it the corporation that made the robot that is guilty? How do you fight back against drones when you don’t have drones?

STAR WARS: Volkswagen Debut Their Full Super Bowl Ad

Posted on 01 February 2012 by Christian

Found this cool article over at ComicBookMovies and wanted to share..

We have seen the teaser with dogs barking the Imperial March, now check out the full commercial. It doesn’t seem to be Star Wars related at first, but keep watching..

I despise a good 99% of all product commercials but when they are funny/cool it lessens my ire a bit. These Volkswagen ones have tied into Star Wars in some pretty awesome ways so they get a pass. Anyway, we have seen the little boy Vader, and the teaser featuring dogs barking the Imperial March. Now check out the full Super Bowl spot which once again features a pooch – and then veers off into Star Wars territory in a pretty strange but very funny way..

First Trailer For Sacha Baron Cohen’s ‘The Dictator’ Features Megan Fox

Posted on 15 December 2011 by Christian

The first trailer for Sacha Baron Cohen’s ‘The Dictator’ has been released.

The comedy, which sees the actor reunite with his ‘Borat’ and ‘Bruno’ director, tells “the heroic story of a dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppresses.

The trailer also features Megan Fox, John C. Reilly and Ben Kingsley, who joined the project this summer.

Fox especially has a funny line after a night with the dictator.

“What’s this, a ruby? Is that a joke? What am I, a Kardashian?”

First Look At Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire & Carey Mulligan In ‘Great Gatsby’

Posted on 14 December 2011 by Christian

Warner Bros. has released our first official look at Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan in ‘The Great Gatsby’.

The casting choices really seem like Baz Luhrmann will bring this classic to life.

“The Great Gatsby” follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings,” reads the official description.

“Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan.”

“It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.”

Letterman Tells Scarlett Johansson: Nude Photos Were ‘Lovely Thing For Mankind

Posted on 13 December 2011 by Christian

During Scarlett Johansson’s appearance on the ‘Late Show’ last night, the topic turned to her now infamous nude photos.

“Yes, somebody stole my nudie photos and they were out there for all the world to see,” the 27-year-old replied when Letterman explained she had been the victim of a hacker.

“Which was, it was unfortunate,” she said as she burst out laughing. “I don’t know why I’m laughing, it was terrible!”

“I mean I understand personally how you’re looking at it,” interjected Letterman. “The guy could be in prison for a 100 years or so.”

“On the other hand, the way to look at it is… it was a lovely thing for mankind.” “But it’s illegal is the point,” he added. “I have to say it was quite shocking and creepy,” she explained.

“What was even more creepy was this person was obviously following me. My password was constantly changing for months and months.”

“I kept thinking why is my password always changing. The guy was really there constantly, sitting there all pasty and sweaty, pervy and weird and that’s the creepiest thing.” The actress said last month that the nude photos were actually intended for her then-husband Ryan Reynolds.

She is currently making the rounds to promote the film ‘We Bought a Zoo’.

Channing Tatum, who starred in the first film, is barely visible in the two minute trailer.

George Takei Tries To Broker Peace Between ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Star Trek’

Posted on 13 December 2011 by Christian

George Takei is stepping in as the broker of peace in the ongoing debate between ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Star Trek’.

Takei warns that if William Shatner and Carrie Fisher keep arguing, the winner will only be the ‘Twilight’”.

“Sci-Fi fans be warned,” says Takei. “There are no great stories, characters or profound life lessons to be had in ‘Twilight’”.

“No, in ‘Twilight’ the only message that rings through loud and clear is… ‘Does my boyfriend like me?”

“Let us band together to combat this mutual threat!”

New Posters For ‘Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘Amazing Spider-Man’

Posted on 12 December 2011 by Christian

The first poster for Marc Webb‘s new ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ has been released.

The photo features new Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield, climbing up a wall as he casts the shadow of a spider below.

It’s definitely a darker tone than any of Sam Raimi’s films in the franchise but we’re not quite sure what ‘untold story’ the poster is promising considering the film will be a reboot of one of the most popular superheroes’ origin story.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. have released a brand new poster for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ which features both Batman and Bane in one image.

It carries the tagline “The Legend Ends.”

Bill Paxton Set To Direct Big Screen Version Of Kung Fu

Posted on 01 November 2011 by Christian

Now not the Marvel comics character Shang-Chi, but a movie version of the ’70s Tv show which starred David Carradine and also had a comic book series. Deadline have the details..

I’m sure any CBMer of a certain age, or even those wise enough to catch some re-runs, remember the Kung Fu Tv series fondly. It starred the late David Carradine as a Shaolin Monk possessed of great martial arts skills as he wanders the American wild west in search of his brother, adventure and enlightenment. It was pretty damn awesome. And now Legendary Entertainment are bringing us a big screen version with none other than Hudson himself at the helm..

Bill Paxton is in talks to direct Kung Fu, a screen adaptation of the classic 1972 TV series that starred David Carradine. Paxton, who’s coming off a run in the HBO series Big Love, gets the job after helming two solid films: Frailty and The Greatest Game Ever Played. John McLaughlin will write the script.

It will be nice to see ol Grasshopper up there on the cinema screen. King Fu was originally conceived as a vehicle for Bruce Lee but the studio decided to go with a “less Asian” looking actor fort the lead. A less Asian, Asian character. So Carradine was chosen. The show ran for three seasons between 1972 and 1975, spawning a movie in 1986 as well as novels, comics and several spin-off series, the latest of which was Kung Fu: The Legend Continues. What do you guys make of this, and Paxton as director?

Official Synopsis For Spike Lee’s Oldboy

Posted on 01 November 2011 by Christian

The official plot synopsis for Spike Lee’s upcoming remake of the 2003 Korean film Oldboy has hit the web. Sounding a lot like the original film (as expected), check it out after the jump!

Collider has received some plot details for various Lionsgate films that will be out in the future, and one of those films was for Spike Lee’s upcoming remake of Oldboy, starring Josh Brolin and set to begin production sometime next Spring (Collider says that the film will be released sometime next year). The below synopsis sounds very similar to the plot for the original film (as expected, of course), so while not very revealing, it’s certainly worth a look…

Cast: Josh Brolin

Director: Spike Lee

Writer: Mark Protosevich

Synopsis:
A man kidnapped and imprisoned on his daughter’s birthday is held captive for fifteen years. Upon his release he embarks on an obsessive mission to find the reason for his imprisonment and soon finds out that his kidnapper has plans for him more tortuous than solitary confinement.

Starring Josh Brolin, Spike Lee’s Oldboy begins production early next year, possibly for a 2012/2013 release.
