The first two books in The Strain Trilogy were a bit hit or miss for me. I enjoyed the concept behind the two but at times it seemed a bit formulaic. That being said I look forward to seeing how the third book in the series “The Night Eternal” wraps up the story. Pick it up when it hits stores on 10-25-2011 and check out the synopsis below.
From the authors of the instant New York Times bestsellers The Strain and The Fall comes the final volume in one of the most electrifying thriller series in years.
There was a time when the idea of an Underworld sequel was interesting to me but two lackluster sequels have left me generally uninterested in anything they have to offer. Bringing back Kate Bekinsale twelve years after the previous movie might bring back some of the original audience but the 3d money grab will keep a lot of fans away who were previously disappointed and see this as nothing more than an attempt to jump on a gimmick band wagon.
Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.
I’m definitly interested to see what they are doing with this film. It’s nice to see a take on vampires where they aren’t being played by models and high school kids.
The film is set to be released on May 13th 2011.
A legendary Warrior Priest from the last Vampire War now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities ruled by the Church. When his niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires, Priest breaks his sacred vows to venture out on an obsessive quest to find her before they turn her into one of them. He is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend, a trigger-fingered young wasteland sheriff, and a former Warrior Priestess who possesses otherworldly fighting skills.
Deadline have posted a list of actors who are being considered for the title role in the epistolary adaption – including fan favourite Adrien Brody!
According to Deadline:
Now we can tell you the list of actors who’ll be screen testing for the role of young Abe Lincoln this week and next: Benjamin Walker, James D’Arcy, Adrien Brody, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Josh Lucas. It’s a very interesting mix of semi-knowns and unknowns, stage and screen vets.
If you were unaware, the story is basically a re-imagining of Lincoln’s life where the president is an accomplished vampire killer – an obsession which he develops after the bloodsuckers murder his mother.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter arrives in theaters June 22nd, 2012!
While you may argue the merit of the Twilight saga of films, and many certainly have up to this point, you certainly can’t argue that they know how to take care of their fans when it comes to the special edition DVD’s they release. In an age of penny pinching by studios
